35559 Kirsten and if you read the whole thing before some questions appear, its fine - just answer as you can and if they ask about what do you think will happen, say you finished. Hope that makes sense!

35559 It IS really hard to watch or read something that others love - the pressure!

Elinor and Nanci - they said it'd be no problem if we have to make the change, since Elinor had also volunteered for DQs. So that's great!

Haha I'll be a proud (and needing support) member of the King Doorstopper club :)

35559 I THINK we just tell them, but I went ahead and asked in the book thread. Elinor that's so thoughtful of you! We have the best team! (And I'd say that no matter how many points we have.)
35559 @Mods - Elinor in our team thread has volunteered to backup Nanci for daily questions if her book doesn't come - is that ok?

35559 Those are great page lengths Vi! Even if we didn't need them for that category (and we do), since every book gives page points, those will give a lot!

I don't own the Stephen King book, but it has been on my TBR, so I guess this is the time to read it! I think I'm going to get it on audio because I've read good things about the audio version/narrator.

Just shelve the one you actually read. Those BOM official counts are "special" and do make it fair so we can read whatever we can get hold of.

35559 I'm honestly not sure - I haven't heard of any. However, I would personally bet there will be more.

Weekly Status Report

Summary: Amazing! There is so much good reading going on! We currently have the most books read of all the teams. The neatest thing about that is every single one of you is reading and contributing - thank you!

Status sheet Link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...

May Books: Required Tower 141/223: 63% complete
Needed Page ranges - all done except:
400-499 need 9 more books
500-599 need 13 more books

Any other books you read, put in "free choice" (if you remember).
Note: It is fine - and will be great - if we go over that 223 book count! However, never feel pressured to read - have as much fun as possible!

Shelf fixes (I put those notes here because it is easy to miss them in the thread.)
Lisa - need Sheriff's Troublemaker, Virgin Flyer, and Oracle on your shelf

Cris - Need Paper Cuts on your shelf.

Books of the Month
Kings of the Wyld (The Band, #1) by Nicholas Eames If you want to participate, the last day to answer daily questions is 2 June. Be sure to link three of your answers into our planning sheet.

The Daughter of Doctor Moreau by Silvia Moreno-Garcia
starts 16 May - Nanci is asking the DQs on day 3 - yay!

The Dangerous Harem (Dino Island #3) by J.R. Hogan
(Backroom read) starts 10 May

Upcoming books for June: 11/22/63 by Stephen King The City of Brass (The Daevabad Trilogy, #1) by S.A. Chakraborty

Mini-Challenge
If a book cover is more than 50% of any color be sure to record that in the spreadsheet, no matter what mini- you are using it for.
If we need to free up spots in the other minis, we can move these into Rainbow towers - which will never fill up :).
All but one Mod shelf is claimed, and the Winner's Towers are filling in nicely (great creativity team!)
I was going to give numbers, but those are so fluid, and we are doing all that we need to here. If you ever have trouble finding a spot for a book, just speak up! We have lots of great and creative brains on the team.

Other Notes
Tone - an Outlander tour of Scotland - that should be it's own category of earning points. Have a fantastic time!

I love the dog/puppy talk. :)

Happy Mother's Day to you mothers and grandmothers. And way to share by example your love of reading!

Keli - thanks for sharing your review! I agree with your thoughts. I really do love reading reviews - even those I DON'T agree with! I didn't like Monique either :)

I think that would work fine! Be sure to note it has a yellow cover also, in case we end up needing to move it:)

35559 Hello from Moab! We are driving home tomorrow and I'll make more thread comments then. So many good things!
For Winners: if you can make a good connection to the team name it'll likely work. So like Ventinari could be a Discworld book, character who leads a city, character who is manipulative (just a few examples). For Lupin it could be a shifter character, someone who needs medication, a teacher character, etc. I'm kind of wondering if we can use Kings of the Wyld for moonstone since it mentions moonstone in a few places :)

For Rainbow covers have to be at least 50% of a color to be used. And for each rainbow except the first it has to be 10 different colors but we can choose what 10 colors.

I'm so excited to see the spreadsheet and more comments when I get home!

35559 Sounds like a consensus! And looks like an interesting book :)

I will be going on a short jeep/camping trip (The White Rim Trail in Moab if anyone knows where that is) and likely won't have internet especially on Thursday. I'll be back Saturday night, and I'm sure I won't be able to resist checking in on my phone when I can. And reading....14 hours of driving means lots of reading (if I don't just fall asleep).

But if I'm slow to respond, that is why :)

35559 I absolutely love how Goodreads challenges bring together people from all over the world with different professions, ages, and taste in books. It feels very unifying. And I think about 100 times a day how much I like all of you on this team :)
35559 DISCUSSION QUESTIONS - Day 6

27. We finally get Lastleaf's backstory in full, and his motives become clearer. What did you think of the fact that he is technically one of the human's Gods (not actually a god, but a being that through myth and legend has been elevated to one over time)?
Did you see Shadow's treachery coming?

I hoped he would join the party, but I was suspicious because of the way he initially looked at Gabe's sword. So I wasn't too surprised he tried to get it. I WAS surprised about his method - I expected something sneaky.

28. Another battle, and Clay has a mental dig at Moog for not being much use in a battle. Poor Moog. do you feel that maybe Clay and the others underestimate Moog at times?
Yes! Moog is totally underestimated. He gets things done, and being unorthodox makes him more effective.

29. Moog rigs up a magical "telephone". If you were in Rose's situation, would you want to know of the rescue attempt (unlikely as it seems it would be successful), or would you prefer not to know? (a very slight hope vs the knowledge that your loved ones are putting themselves in danger because of you)
Oh boy - good question. I think I'd want to know, even though I would worry. And it was neat to see Rosie.

30. Owlbear cubs! What mythical creature do you think would make a good pet? Oh geez these were so cute - I was cooing last night as I was reading this part. And laughing at Moog transferring porridge from his mouth to theirs. I don't know that a mythical creature would make a good pet, but if they bonded like in some fantasy, I'd want a dragon.

31. "You're a hard man to kill, Clay Cooper"
"But I'm easy to hurt"
I think it says a lot about clay that he can plummet from a bridge, spare a moment for a dying fiend, show incredible endurance catching up with Larkspur and still see the humanity in the woman that cut off his hand. Superman or just plain stubborn? Truly good person, or in denial about how the world really is?
I think Clay is the best kind of person - and I'm so glad you included this quote. I really love him and I hope he sees his wife and daughter again!

35559 I have tons of color covers, so I'll try to gravitate to those. I have one right now that I put in for Lupin since it is set at a school of magic - but it is dark blue so may end up getting moved.

I'm listening to a Star Wars book and have another (also Star Wars) that will work for Palpatine. I was on that team, so I should at least fill in a couple of those :). I was on Elektra too, but I haven't done anything with that yet.
