35559 Oh yes that would work too. I finally put this under Crayola towers. But I think I can move it. Thanks!

35559 I'm going with pink.. I added in the spreadsheet for the Rainbow towers. If you think it'll fit somewhere else better, I'm good to change it.

35559 I've started Scoring Wilder by R.S. Grey for another challenge. Which colour can I put it in? I can't seem to pin one colour for it.

I'm totally not jealous at all. It's not like Scotland is on my list of places to go for a long long long time. Lots of places to see. Have a great time for me too.

That's good to hear Elinor! The challenge just started and we have a way to go.

Thanks, the first round went ok.. I finished early on my writing exam and I started correcting... and ended up rewriting one of them. I don't know which attempt was better haha.

So beautiful. There's a long list of places to hit if I ever make it to the USA. Have a great time!
35559 Day 3 DQs

11. The fight with Raff's old band (who looked like clowns) that ended with snakes is one of the first times we see the almost full band working together. What did you think of this scene? Did you like the action or was it confusing?
I liked it. I loved the unexpected action from Moog. It sorta sets the expectation for the rest of the scene.

12. So the hoarder kobolds - I thought they were great! And the bird-like creatures pulling the carriage. Do you have a favorite creature you've seen so far, or one you'd like to see? Tell why.
I'd like to see more of the minotaur actually. And more unexpected creatures too.

13. I think in the last half of this section we really start understanding what a big deal the Kings of Wyld really were. And we get to compare them to the Screaming Eagles. What do you think about the ethics and popularity of the new bands that kill captive monsters in arenas?
Honestly, I'm not a fan of captive anything. Even monsters. Even with Screaming Eagles, we really didn't get to them in action. All talk and accidents.

14. Lastleaf gave his (and the hordes') motivations for conquest. Do you think his reasons were valid, or is he just evil? Do you feel at all sorry for the monsters?
No, I'm sort of reserving judgements because there's always multiple sides to a story. We don't have an impartial view to it yet.

15. We all picked our favorite character in day 1 questions. Has yours changed since then?
Nope, it's still Clay followed by Moog.
35559 DQ 2

6. We meet the 3rd member of the band, the wizard Moog. What are your impressions of the wizard? Were you as surprised as Clay that he agreed to go right away?
Quirky and fun. No, not really. I kinda expected it.

7. That was some entrance to the palace, don't you think? What were your first impressions of Matrick? Were you surprised by the turn of events in chapter 11? Excited or worried when Moog announces that he had a plan?
Yes, it was very unexpected turn of event. I was thinking he would be overconfident and soft. But he ended up being very pragmatic. I was super excited when Moog announced he had a plan. Yes, I'm totally for the ride, sitting back and enjoy.

8. After several descriptions sprinkled thoughout the story thus far, we finally meet a druin. What do you think his plan is? Why does he really want the Council to stand down?
No idea really. I'm looking forward to reading more about it.

9. Were you surprised at how Lillian arranged the funeral? What did you think of Clay's contribution? How successful would you rate Moog's plan?
Yes, I was totally surprised. I like how Clay was able to think quickly. Quite successful with the limited information they had. I'm still surprised Matrick managed to survive.

10. Gabriel borrows Moog's crystal ball to check on his daughter. Were you surprised at what he saw? What did you think of the band's reaction?
No, not really. It wouldn't make sense otherwise. They were expecting part of it and the rest.. the stakes had to be higher right?

35559 Thank you everyone. I agree about the charm. It does have it though I still think French is better to hear (even if I don't understand it). I'm still only at beginner level but I hope to upgrade to intermediate by next year.
35559 DQ Day 1 - Chapters 1 to 8

1.) What do you think of the premise of the book, like an aging rock band getting back together to go on tour but an adventuring band instead? Is the author pulling it off so far?
Super interesting. Yes, the author is pulling it off. I also appreciate the fact that family life is not maligned or made fun of.

2.) The rocks, may of hit me a bit in the feels. Did it affect your opinion of Gabe at all?
Hm, not really. I like to go in further before forming an opinion. As it is, it's too early and the authors needs time and space to set up

3.) How do you like the world building, is it being done effectively for you without major info dumping? Is it helping to set the stage for the story?
I like how it's being done. No info dumping, things are dropped casually but I still know there's a lot more.

4.) What did you think about the parade? Did anyone else enjoy Clay's reaction to the ladies being whistled at and be disappointed when the lady blew a kiss back instead of skewering the guy (like Clay expected to happen)?
Clay seems a good guy, It would have been difficult to read past this if his reaction was not good. Also, it's hard to read this objectification.

5.) Do you have a favorite character so far?
Clay definitely. Followed by Ginny and Tally.

35559 I am working on Kings of the Wyld - about 26% done. I'm really enjoying it so far. I really like Clay.

I have my Dutch language beginner level exam on Tuesday and then Monday next week so I'm (trying to) focus more on that. I'll be slowing down on my reading till Tuesday at least.

Yeah, it's a very small part but it's usually like family/wife is the old balls and chain, stopping the husbands from having fun etc. I hate that "joke".

Shannon, I have a question.. can I do the DQs from day 1 if we are on day 4? Or do I just do the current days? I don't want to break the continuity or the random discussions that may happen.

I've just started it, about 10% in. So far, I'm enjoying it. I like the tone, the setup is interesting. Also, I like the fact that there is no demeaning the wife or the family aspect of the life. Yeah, I was dreading that aspect.

35559 I'm the opposite I guess. I don't often rate 4 o 5 stars. I've had only 1 5 star so far this year.

I've finished Full Package and The Party Crasher for other challenges. I'll soon be starting on Kings of the Wyld. Hopefully, I'll be able to keep up and participate in the DQs.

35559 Also, since 3 people or so are planning to read Kings of the Wyld, will we all get the BOM points? Or is it 1 BOM per team?
