35559 OK so I have a few questions for the next mini:

1. Can the cover have a girl or a boy (as in YA or should it adult)?
2. Can there be a partial show or should the person be shown fully?
3. Can there be animals on the cover?
35559 I used to read Lindsey and Garlock when I first started reading romance before I got distracted by Diana Palmer, Amanda Quick & Karen Robards. Lindsey and Palmer have written the best WTFery I've ever read. (In my defence, that was my first time at a biiig library and I saw this lady check out so many of Lindsey & Palmer. I thought it must be good.)
35559 Go, Alley!! Great mini coming up. I did start Crystal Cove (Friday Harbor, #4) by Lisa Kleypas but only a few pages. I don't mind waiting another day to finish it. (I can try..)

Faith, The Casual Vacancy by J.K. Rowling also counts for the monthly - 13 people have shelved it as Romance. (Second page). I will post a mid-month update by tomorrow.
35559 I finished my final M-book yesterday - Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan . It was really good. I laughed particularly at the Hadoop and the Amazon Turk reference.

@Leslie, Melissa - I'll give the Highlander series a try this month then. Thanks :)

Not sure what to start next - either What I Didn't Say by Keary Taylor or Crystal Cove (Friday Harbor, #4) by Lisa Kleypas
35559 And finally, awesome work Team D! We ROCK!
35559 @Melissa - Make sure you have the fifth on hand. This one also has a cliffhanger ending and you will want to start the next asap. I hate cliffhangers.

Incidentally, for those who've read both her Highlanders and Fever series, if I'm not too into PNR (I can do UF fine, though), will I enjoy the Highlander? I enjoyed the fever series but I'm reluctant to start her highlander series due to this.
35559 The ending is awesome, right?! I so want the next book now but apparently, the author is going to concentrate on the Mercy Thompson series now. GAH!!!

Diane ~Firefly~ wrote: "Just finished Fair Game (Alpha & Omega, #3) by Patricia Briggs which 156 people put on the romance shelf. And can I say, Oh what an ending!"
35559 I finished The Other Side of Us by Sarah Mayberry by Sarah Mayberry and Sold to the Enemy by Sarah Morgan by Sarah Morgan. Mayberry's was awesome as usual. I'm really digging her Super Romance books. The H/h are so believable and normal people.

Morgan's romance was a sweet one. It was HQN Presents so you have that unbelievable millionaire (or is it billionaire nowadays?) and usually set in Greece. (I guess Greek ones are in demand) But as usual Morgan doesn't write alpha-hole heroes but the heroine was too naive which I found it not so believable. Other than that, I really enjoyed the romance.

I've started Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan and if I can I'll try to squeeze My Favorite Mistake (My Favorite Mistake, #1) by Chelsea M. Cameron too.
35559 I finished Stained Glass Monsters yesterday for the mini-challenge. I'll be starting The Other Side of Us for the mini next.
35559 I'm thinking of starting: Deadhouse Gates - series title: Malazan Book of the Fallen but it's a chunky. GR is already stating that I'm 1 book behind. So I'm not sure.
35559 I'm reading Stained Glass Monsters which would have totally counted for the mini but unfortunately I already started it.

I'm still narrowing down (read: choosing) my other M books. I do have a question for the mini: do series title count?
35559 I've been in a bad reading slump all week. I haven't read anything at all. I've started Stained Glass Monsters (Eferum, #1) by Andrea K. Höst that works for a couple of challenges. Unfortunately, it looks to be pure Fantasy. On the brighter side, I'm enjoying it.
35559 @Leslie, I love Susanna Kearsley too. Her prose is so lyrical. Mariana is one of my favorites. I'm glad you enjoyed it too!

@Gayle - Have you read the Psy-Changeling series by her? It's more PNR but the world she built is amazing!

FEBRUARY MONTHLY CHALLENGE

WHEN: February 1 - February 24
WHAT: In honour of Valentine's Day, for the month of February, read Romance books
RULES:
1. The book should be shelved as romance by at least 10 people. To check this, go to the book page. In the right-hand side, there will be a section called Genres. Just click on it and it will show up all the shelves for this book. For an image, click the spoiler. (view spoiler)
2. Book should be read between Feb 1 and 24 and meet the Tower Team Challenge requirements i.e page count >170
3. Participants in this month-long challenge, please post the book in the thread. If it ties in with any mini-challenge, it has to be stated explicitly. (It makes work easier for us mods)

Happy Reading!
35559 Attention Please!!

Hi Everyone!

Since the mini-challenges were a hoot, we've decided to expand the party! So for each month, there will be a theme running for most of it. Just read a book that fits the rules for that month and you're done. But don't worry - there will still be mini-challenges running too without any change. To spice things up a bit, we have devised a point system.

1. Each book you read for the monthly or mini-challenge will get one point.
2. If it meets both the monthly and the on-going mini-challenge requirement, then the book will get TWO points.

We will keep records of the books and the totals will be posted at the end of the challenge period. The winner will get to decide the next month's challenge.

Note: Winners of the mini-challenge will decide the next mini-challenge. There is no change to this.
35559 I get purplish vibe actually!

Leslie, the In Death series is very good. I'm amazed NR has been able to sustain it with so many books!
35559 Melissa, that doesn't look like red to me, Sorry!
35559 Nope, it actually has 164 pages not 168. I just didn't notice the number of pages. My fault.
35559 Oh, dang it. It looked like it was more. I'm blaming it on the book - it's longer than the English counterparts. Oh well. Thanks for catching that,LK!
35559 Is this a red cover: Yavanika by Sujatha ?
