I finished today -
. It was good for the most part - the romance was slow and with a little suspension of disbelief, believable. The two major drawbacks were the pretty much polite ignorance of suspected abuse by the two MC. I mean seriously, if you think somebody is in an abusive relationship, you would think to help or at least try. Especially if there is a kid involved. The second was that the female MC pretty much gives up her job after marriage. I don't understand why. It's her own company that she built from bottom up so why would she step back even if her husband is a famous actor?
But the book managed to establish the small town atmosphere for the future books. For a freebie it's not a bad first book. I might just continue with the series.
And now,
is waiting on my kindle. I'll be MIA til I finish it.

I finished
yesterday night, 28 July.(T - char name Letitia Thornquist, B - char name Joel Blackstone, S - char Stephanie Thornquist) If middle name counts, then A.

Yes, I'm planning on making it a sure thing too. I did see that N wasn't picked up too. I can find another book for N - I have
Tribute on my kindle that's yet to be read. I can take those two N. I also have
Firewalker that I can read on/after August 1 for N. I don't mind making these three as sure reads.
BTW, in Beatrice De Nov, is Novo counted as last name or De Novo is the last name? I've never been sure about that.

Finally, I now have time to post my planned reads (aka hope I read atleast some of them this week):
1.
Perfect Partners by Jayne Ann Krentz - (T - char name Letitia Thornquist, B - char name Joel Blackstone) If middle name counts, then A.
2.
The Smoke Thief by Shana Abe (Title - t, Author - S, A)
3.
When Lightning Strikes by Brenda Novak (Author - B, N)
4.
Magic Breaks by Ilona Andrews (Author - A). This one is definite. Qualifies for Urban Fantasy. (I'll be MIA on 29th)
5.
Welcome to Paradise by Rosalind James
6.
A Hidden Fire by Elizabeth Hunter (Title - A, character - Beatrice De Novo)
This is a tentative list; subject to change. I'm flexible enough to change depending on the letters. I have some U books that I can read too. Once August 1 is here, I'll have more options.

Yeah, I just remembered back from the TTRC. Happy Wedding Anniversary, Karen!! Have a wonderful time with your family :) :)

TC, I'm so envious that you could read so much. I've never been able to read that many in a week.

Karen, I just realised - is it your wedding anniversary? IIRC, you had your wedding last year around this time, right?

I just finished
Rescue Me. I finished the bulk of it after the deadline for another challenge. So I still haven't had the time to arrange my reads for the week. Will do it soon.
Also an FYI, I have a around 4 religious occasion in August which require heavy prep. But the most elaborate one is on Aug 8 which will actually take 3 days with it - 7,8 & 9. So my reading time will be really cut short next week. I'll try selecting shorter books to read then.

We have our new genre : Urban Fantasy. I'm reading a R book that should work. I'll check the books I'm planning to read and come back. I'll be reading a UF book this week too.

Way to go, Team!! Awesome work.
I'm actually going hoping for either middle grade or science fiction or non fiction. I have books I need to read in all of those.

That's odd. And I found out why. I added the shelf via the app which added the default edition and not the audio edition. I think I corrected it but let me know if you still don't see it.
GR's android app sucks.

I'm done with Under the Never sky. I liked it. I'll definitely be continuing the trilogy. Thanks for the push, Karen & TC
I'm currently reading Rescue me for another challenge but I'm not sure if I'll finish before the deadline.

Sorry TC, I was updating from my phone and I hate doing the shelves on the app.

I'm done with
. I'm definitely continuing the series in audio.
It works for P or E - Ebenezer. There are a looooot of M in this book.
50% done with
. I will definitely finish it by today. I don't think I can finish another one before tomorrow morning.

Oh, all the people who recommended that series in audio were right. The narrator does Harry Dresden very well since it's in first POV too. To tell the truth, I took a long break after book #7 and was on the fence continuing. The audiobook helped me make a decision. :) To summarize, go for it, Rebecca!!

That's ok, Karen. I was giggling when I read that - jumping the shark? I spent a pleasant time hop-reading wikipedia about the phrase.
I started
and about 15% in, I think. So far, so good. I haven't read many dystopias so it's good to read something different.
I had a lot of listening time this week so I made a lot of headway into
. I think I have around an hour left. So I should be done by tomorrow or Sunday at the latest. And I'm doing a happy dance - this has been the first audiobook since Harry Potter series that has worked for me. YAY!!

I just finished
earlier today - 25 July. Onto
.

I felt the same about the Ni..."It was not just "jumping the shark" (which btw, I had to google as I've never heard that expression before.) It was more like the series didn't really work for me but I kept trying because everybody else raved about it. If everybody's raving about it, then it should be good, right? So, lesson learnt. If a series doesn't work after 2 or 3 books, then it is time to move on.
Regarding the City of Bones, the plagiarism was just soo bad. And IIRC, there was a lot of slapping going on which irritated me too. But really, I can't believe how this series became so popular given the blatant copying.

Hi Rebecca! Welcome to our team!!
Karen, I completely agree about
City of Bones. I couldn't read it either. I had to DNF it. I also DNF'd 2 series. The Black Dagger Brotherhood is such a popular series but i made it only to 4 books. I DNF'd the 5th. The language, the names, the physical descriptions just turned me off the series. It is one of the best decisions I've ever made.
Another book I DNF'd was
. It was #5 in the Night Huntress Series but when I started it, I felt completely lost. Turns out there was 2 books set in that world but that is not part of the main series. It was not mentioned in the book page nor anywhere else. If it wasn't part of the main series then it shouldn't have affected the events in that series. If it does, then it's your responsibility to include that info. It made me so mad. That's the second series that I DNF'd.
Karen wrote: "Vi - Yes, I think if you didn't like Good Omens stay away from the Discworld Series. The humour is very similar."That's what I thought. Too bad :(
I downloaded
Under the Never Sky from the library. I so love instant gratification. Then I realized, I had already bought it. Either way, I'm definitely getting to it this week.
