I know what it’s like during a challenge. It can get crazy! One reason I skipped for now. I am tearing through my tbr list. But, I keep adding to it too! LOL And reading books that I just stumble upon.

Let me know what you think of the book. I don’t think you will be disappointed.

I finished and agree the best part was how everything was revealed bit by bit. I suspected pretty much every character. But happy to say, I was surprised by the end! (view spoiler)[ I never suspected Theo and Alicia’s timeline were different as the stories were being told. This “trick” has been used before in books I read over the past year. But for some reason, I never expect it.

And the way Alicia does get justice is great. Very satisfying ending! (hide spoiler)]

It’s getting more interesting as the book goes on. I’m up to part 4 chapter 4 now. The book isn’t too long so the time is flying by. Lots of questions and more suspects. (view spoiler)[ Dr. West thinks Alicia was being delusional when she says she was being watched. I think she was. The Greek play Alicia painted a painting of has something to do with this, I think. Did someone make Alicia kill her husband? Or was it self defense because her husband was trying to kill her for someone else? I’m still confused! (hide spoiler)]

Couldn’t wait to start! I am through book 2, chapter 13. About a third through. It’s very interesting. I have a soft spot for psychological thrillers, mysteries. Theo and Alicia are complicated characters and maybe similar in that they have both had terrible childhoods and dealt with abuse, I think. I am suspicious of some things.(view spoiler)[ Why does Alicia not remember some things? Is she a bit crazy like her mother? Not sure I am convinced of that yet.

Why is Theo a little uncomfortable with Yuri? Yuri was discouraging Theo from trying to help Alicia.

And what about Max? His wife seems fearful of him. What is he truly capable of?

And Theo’s wife, Kathy. I knew she couldn’t be as stable and happy as Theo thought. She did warn him about her crazy! They do say that people do let you know who they really are. Most people just don’t listen. (hide spoiler)]

I agree the book felt like it was set in the past with the arranged marriage, virginity being the most important thing for a woman to give her husband. And I believe in the beginning of the book Franscesca had to put on a corset before attending a party.

I thought the same thing, Brooke, about Sterling being Keaton’s Mother and overhearing all his private moments. It was kinda gross.

And you make a good point about the relationship being toxic. It does set a bad example for young women.

The library was able to get you a copy quickly! Looking forward to reading this!

I should know today. If I get it today or tomorrow, I can start to read it Monday. There’s a lot of buzz about the book. Calling it the next Gone Girl. Hope I am not disappointed!

I went ahead and rushed to finish this. I never warmed up to Francesca and Keaton. And some of the sex scenes made me cringe. And the bickering and miscommunication did get tiresome. One reason I don’t read too many enemies to lovers romances. I do feel tricked by all the good reviews. I agree, Laura, I don’t understand. I will be returning this book and getting my audible credit back!

Hopefully, the next book we BR will be better, Laura. When will your library have a copy of The Silent Patient? I should know by Friday or Saturday.

The best part for me too is the action and power struggle between Franscesca’s father and Keaton. The relationship between Francesca and Keaton was tiring until after the engagement party. It was a bit cliche that (view spoiler)[Francesca had to prove her virginity before Keaton stopped being such a jerk to her. (hide spoiler)]

I definitely prefer smart, sexy romances like those by Penny Reid. But I like to try new authors. I should be able to finish this tomorrow!

So you have read other books by this author? This is my first. What was Vicious like?

I’m up to chapter 7. The interactions between Francesca and Keaton are straddling the line of sounding like children fighting and becoming annoying. But I do like the writing and want to see where the story goes.

I agree too that Francesca is spoiled and took the easy way. I think I would have tried to get out of my father’s power and run away. But like the above discussion, it probably would be very difficult to do. So I am not sure.

I find the animosity and power play between Fanscesca’s father and Keaton interesting. I do think in the end being with Keaton will help her to grow and grow up. At least, that is the hope.

It’s difficult not to start this one already! I may read a sample tomorrow.

Thanks for setting up the thread! I just read a good romance The Hating Game. I usually stay away from enemies to lovers romance because it can sometimes seem like children fighting and it becomes annoying. But I loved The Hating Game. It was actually smart and sexy, IMO. This is another enemies to lovers story. I keep reading good reviews. So fingers crossed, I will like it!
