re Quentin - basically i meant like where he's from / who his parents are, since it's been mentioned that like no one at shadowed hills except sylvester knows at this point

@Geri this series has some really great characters in it, although a lot of my favorites haven't been introduced yet. but yeah pretty much with every book more characters get added and old ones get flesh out more and even if you don't necessarily like all of them, they all feel very real to me.

i read up through chapter 14 today. this is moving a bit more slowly than i remember, but when it picks up it gets really good. there's one part in particular that i'm looking forward to that i honestly thought would have happened by now lol. also i noticed a few little hints at quentin's ~mysterious past~ although that doesn't come into play until MUCH later.

although i still maintain that the entire sorting system is at its roots entirely bullshit, there was a cool article over at tor about how harry really should have been in slytherin. definitely would have been a very different series to say the least lol

ok i edited my two books that i posted there since the triwizard began. this probably says a lot about me but the most stressful thing about this challenge is trying to remember characters' names so i can tell you all what's happening lol

@Cathy i mean ...i absolutely love this series right from the beginning, but i guess it does get 'better' as it goes just because more of the side characters get fleshed out and the plot lines get more 'complicated' but if you're asking because you still aren't really enjoying it then i don't know if that will suddenly change later. i do really love the next book though so i guess if you're really on the fence you could try one more.

i have one cat and i like her way more than she likes me lol she glares at me when i try to cuddle her like what are you doing, put me down at once!

@Jess the author has three cats currently if i'm remembering correctly so yes she really likes cat lol

i read chapters 6-9 today. not a ton to say about them really. january definitely is 'weird' even by fae standards but so is like everyone who is working for her so i guess that makes sense lol

i did remember what kind of fae alex and terrie are but i would love to see other people's theories, although i can't really comment on them

i really like how this series takes a lot of like 'classic murder mystery' plotlines and adds all the faerie stuff into it. i think it's a really fun blend of genres.

ok last comment for awhile but i just wanted to say that if we get in a bind i do have Troll's Eye View: A Book of Villainous Tales and Stake Sauce, Arc 1: The Secret Ingredient Is Love. No, Really and both are around 200 pages so wouldn't take me a super long time, but again if anyone else has things that fit those spots that would be preferred, just put mine aside as like a backup i guess

also would work for the pink title but i don't really want to claim it right now as i think i'm already doing like 5 books for this, but i guess if we get in a bind or if anyone else had it on their tbr

ok, it says The Bear and the Nightingale is shelved 316 times as wishlist and i'm doing a buddy read of that starting on 8/8. i know you wanted them all done by the 10th but i could probably do it by the 11th or 12th if that's okay

i'm confused about the wish thing because i went to try to search out books for it and it came up with this list but the highest ones say shelved 10 times as wish sooo ...is there another way to search for this that i'm not thinking of??

[edit: does wishlist or wish-list also count? i'm guessing it does bc there seems to be a lot more of that]

hey i just wanted to say that we've got a buddy read of the 2nd book starting tomorrow if anyone wants to continue the series [although i might have started today lol]

honestly i'm so glad that i first read this series years ago because if present day me started these books there's a chance i would find tybalt so annoying at this point in the series that i wouldn't want to keep going with it

i do remember vaguely what kind of fae alex is but i don't remember why quentin is so mad at him. it's amazing all the little things you forget after time

i took this off my tbr awhile ago but if someone else wants to read it then Trolled by D.K. Bussell would work for troll in title. and it's only 99c or free w/ kindle unlimited.

book 7 task 3 [funeral] there is a funeral for jude [although it's a fake funeral bc he isn't really dead but it still happens so i assume that counts]
book 7 task 5 [multiple people die] vance dies and then a bunch of side characters also die

so i'm guessing that since they said all the other stuff was over in the books read thread a bit ago that if i finish a book in the next hour then it either has to go towards characters or tri wizard? not that it really matters i guess, i'm just always confused with the time zones lol

also for sandman slim the buddy read is currently set for the 19th, do you want me to try to move it up? or you know what i might just read sweet venom first instead, it's also on my august tbr and i don't have a br for it so it might work better.

i'll try to look around my whole tbr to see if i have anything for the other slots later but there's nothing on my already planned tbr for august

then what on earth IS a banked book??? i am just really confused about that i guess.

also do we get more points from character spelling or from triwizard tasks because i doubt we will be able to completely do both so we should probably focus our efforts wherever we get the most points out of the books.
