35559 Have U alreasy decided on a theme for the "revolving hoop"? :)
Sep 11, 2024 04:09AM

35559 There are definitely a few U-books I'd like to read, too. ;)

35559 or is it ill-wishers?
Sep 11, 2024 03:32AM

35559 and have all those teams down on me like a ton of bricks.... I'm not sure I'm up to it, LOL

But if I get any ideas, you might get some anoymous letters from well-wishers. ;)

35559 Sometimes I have these inexplicable, half-formed, wild thoughts emerging from my subconscious.

I need to consult a psychotherapist, obviously. 😅 This U-fixation is rather disconcerting.

35559 In the hope of a (not-too-far) future wheel challenge I have started gathering some U-books. 🤭

I found this in the audible(com) plus catalogue yesterday: Upland Autumn: Birds, Dogs, and Shotgun Shells.

Not that I'm in favour of hunting, au contraire, but don't look a gift U-book in the mouth ....

35559 I'm done..... what a relief! :)

35559 She sounded pretty much the same regardless of the speed (tried different tempos) and the story, while not terrible, is average at best, so happy to leave it behind in 30 minutes. :D

35559 The autumn book's narrayor's voice makes me want to scratch my eyes out.
After Joy Nash, she must be the 2nd most irritating narrator I've come across. She uses a totally unnatural sounding, squeaky, high-pitched, breathy, saccharine voice and sounds like she's speaking through her nose. Absolutely awful!

But I have only 1 hour left, so I won't give up now.

35559 #42 The Boss Who Stole Christmas (Reindeer Falls, #1) by Jana Aston

3,5 stars - a quick, easy and very entertaining read

#43 The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires (Half-Moon Hollow, #1) by Molly Harper
3 stars - it's the "usual" Molly Harper book: light, entertaining pnr romance

35559 Found an autumn audiobook in the Plus catalogue. Will grab the season task. :)

35559 I am listening to Crusaders by Dan Jones (cannot link it now), it may (?) pass as monochrome with red and dark red colours on cover, though the letters are white, so I'm not sure...

Oh, I knew we could count on you with the page count, Sammy. 😊

35559 Just sped it up to 2.0. It's still a speed I can handle and follow more or less normally.
The last book I did that for was Daughter of the Forest, I set the narration at 2.3 and still thought it would never end, but that book was torture for me anyway.

This book isn't too bad, but I am not mad about it either. Cozy mysteries are just not my thing. Here its helps that there is a ghost and the murder was committed in the 1920s. I will finish, but won't be going on with the series for sure .... no mention of any U-characters ... 😅

35559 Will do. :D

My current "normal" speed is 1.7, but I can turn it up if I find I dislike it.
