DQ May 19- How Noriko Learned to Love - End of Book13. In this chapter we get to know Saturo's Aunt Noriko better. What adjectives would you use to describe Noriko's personality? How did you feel about the way Noriko revealed Saturo's birth story? Were you surprised to learn he was adopted?
14. Did you think Nana running off towards the end and living his former life as a stray was fitting for the story. Was it believable that he would come back and forth visiting Saturo in the hospital?
15. Endings...they must be the second hardest thing to write for authors after beginnings. Did you like the ending? You may consider the Epilogue also when answering the question, if you like.
16. The author, Hiro Arikawa, has written other books, with very different genre. She has written books about Japan Self-Defense Forces (JSDF). (I have to admit I know nothing about that!).
Would you read another book written by her? And lastly, would you recommend this book to others? If so, would you only recommend it to people who you know are cat lovers or would you widely recommend it?

DQ: 18 May - Sugi and Chikako's Hotel for Pets & Between Friends9) Considering Satoru seems to be quite perceptive overall, do you think he knew about Sugi’s less charitable feelings about him, both in the past and during this visit?
Probably yes, Saturo knew but he wasn't bothered about it and so it won't be awkward to them.
10) So far, the chapters have all been combining Satoru and Nana’s journey with Satoru’s past with several other people, as well as their backgrounds. How do you feel about this interlude (chapter 3.5) focused entirely on the man and his cat? What does it add to the story?
I liked it! It just shows how much Saturo cares for Nana. And how Saturo treat Nana as a family just like how Hachi was. Also the journey made sense and it gives the reader hint of how the story goes.
11) For the first time, we got a hint of what’s going on with Satoru when the dog said “he smells like he isn’t going to make it” in chapter 3, and this came up again in chapter 3.5. So it sounds like Satoru is ill… was that your prediction for question 4?
I did predicted that Saturo was ill. but we don't know until I finished the book. But why else will Saturo made an effort to travel around Japan just to give Nana a home he deserve if he didn't love the cat, right? Probably, a health problem.
12) Squabbles between cats and dogs were really present in these sections. So: Are you a cat person or a dog person or both (or neither)?
My parents wasn't an animal lovers really but if I had to choose, maybe I would like a dog for a pet someday!

DQ: 17 May - The Unsentimental Farmer5) I really like reading the cat's thoughts. It can be quite funny. Do you think these are convincing cat thoughts?
Idk really but I like Nana, he seems fun. I have never owned a cat so can't relate much!
6) In this chapter we are introduced to Yoshimine, another potential owner for our cat. What do you think of him and his backstory?
I think Yoshimine is a strong and independent one. I really like his back story and their attempt to get away during a field trip, its like Saturo in sixth grade way of thinking! lol I also love his grandmother btw.
7) Do you think Yoshimine would have been a good owner for Nana ?
I don't think so. Well he said so in the beginning of the chapter that he seems to treat them just like a normal cat used to hunt mice on the farm and not a pet. So yeah. But even so, I think Nana will survive if he lives with Yoshimine, as he seems to be an independent cat and survive as a wild one as kitten before Saturo adopted him.
8) Yoshimine has already a kitten called Chatran, and Satoru makes fun of him for naming his cat with such a cliché name. What is for you the most cliché cat name(s)? In french it is quite common to call a cat Chaussette (meaning sock), Mistigri or Felix (actually a cat food brand)
Idk really since I have never owned a cat. But my friends cat was named in number so I think it's funny, like he said "Come here number two! Stop that number one!" lol

DQs 16 May: Prologue - The Husband Without a Wife1. How are you liking the way the story is written with its alternating POVs ? Is there a POV you prefer ?
I definitely like alternating POV. It really do tell the perspective of the characters and the way they think. The cat's POV is my fave lol This is my first book in which an animal was given a pov lol
2. Through the flashbacks we get to know Satoru's personality a bit more. What do you make of him so far ? What did you think about his way of helping his friend Kosuke?
Satoru is a good friend. Though the jumping part was a lot. I think his fun to be with, and with his wild ideas! I'm looking forward to know him better as a grown up.
3. Talking about Kosuke, what's up with his parents ? It seemed to me that Kosuke was genuinely convinced that his father would agree to keep the cat (Hachi). What did you think about his backstory ?
Kosuke's parents are the worst! Who would tell a kid to stop crying when his friend's parents has died? I rooting for kosuke though! Hoping things work out with his wife!
4. Why do you think Satoru can't take care of Nana anymore ?
Probably, he's sick. Idk.
Planning to read
for the task sword on cover. And The Pillars of the Earth for task historical fiction.
