Duration: Monthly

How to Participate:

The NetGalley Challenge is designed to not only get you to read your NetGalley books, but to also advertise your reviews for others to see because after all, that's what NetGalley is all about.

1. At the beginning of the month, post any/all of the following:
a: How many books on your NetGalley shelf
b: What books are on your NG shelf
c: What your Netgalley feedback ratio is

2. During the month, read the NetGalley books that you can AND update your post with your reviews. (You can do this after each book or wait until the end of the month.)

3. At the end of the month, update your post and with:
a: What books you read
b: Link(s) to your review(s)**
c: Your updated shelf count
d: Your updated books to read
e: Your updated ratio

Then start a new post for the next month!

**When linking your reviews, please link only to the book(s) here at GoodReads. At this time, linking to a personal blog is not allowed. Thank you!

Connie N. | 738 comments Has anyone else had a problem lately with posting reviews to Amazon? I think the problem is that I didn't buy the book from Amazon, so they don't give me the option of posting a review on it anymore. You'd think they'd want as many reviews as possible, especially if they're good ones, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Yes, I can never post reviews over there so I just post them here. I do buy books but may not be enough.

Amazon is always changing. I buy some books and lots of other stuff from them, but obviously not the NetGalley book, but they do take my review, then ask me if I want to rate the dog brush I just bought. Who knows?

Kristie | 3595 comments Finished my first book of the mont, My Wife Is Missing. It was pretty twisty. If you enjoy books that keep you guessing, you may enjoy this one.

My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

I also added the audio of Stay Awake, so there is no change in my stats. I already had the ebook of this one, so I didn't really add anything to my reading list either. Hopefully it is really good, since I now have two copies to review.

I just finished 2 today.
Stay Awake by Megan Goldin was awesome! A 5 star read.
and
Manhattan Cult Story My Unbelievable True Story of Sex, Crimes, Chaos, and Survival by Spencer Schneider was interesting, but slow. a 3 star read.

and I added 4 more
Mad Honey by Jodi Picoult The Resort by Sue Watson The Family Game by Catherine Steadman Bo Jackson The Last Folk Hero by Jeff Pearlman

And I lost one to archive because I didn't understand I needed to download the audio to the app. The House Sitter by Ellery A. Kane

It is interesting that your book had a theme of insomnia because the one I just finished, Stay Awake also dealt with insomnia.

Kristie | 3595 comments I am reading Stay Awake now and just thought I'm done with insomnia fir for a while after this. lol I didn't know that when I read them in this order.

Kristie | 3595 comments I forgot to update here - I added Holy Chow (Andy Carpenter #25) by David Rosenfelt and Fatal Witness (Detective Erika Foster, #7) by Robert Bryndza . Both are from series I enjoy.

I plan to add The Last Orphan too. It's another series I keep up with. I'm hoping they'll add the audio though.

Lots of great reviews for that one!

message 31: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 3595 comments It was really good. The author gives you feeling of "what is going on" for a lot of the book, which goes along with what the MC is feeling.

Connie N. | 738 comments That's great, Kristie. I've started the Andy Carpenter series and love it, but I'm nowhere near as far along as this, so I resisted requesting it. I'd rather take my time and read them in order.

message 35: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 3595 comments That makes perfect sense, Connie. I have this weird split going on with the series. I started with Dog Eat Dog. I didn't know it was number 23 in the series until after I requested it. Then, I thought I'd start from the beginning so I went back to read Open and Shut. However, he writes them a lot faster than I can read them to catch up so I somehow ended up reading from both ends. Read one early one, then a new release, and repeat. So far, I have read # 23, 1, 24, 2, and 25. I guess I will now read #3 before # 26 comes out this fall. I know... it's strange.

I'm strongly resisting adding any new books because I can't wait to get to the point where I only have a few books on my shelf and can add a few without making my list unsurmountable. Kristie, you're right where I want to be in a few months.

I'm back! It must have been a temporary glitch at Amazon because now I'm able to post my reviews of NetGalley books there with no problem. (Maybe there were other people who complained as well and NetGalley might have intervened?)

I really try to keep my books around 10 or less. I am a slower reader, so I can't have too many on my shelf and still read them before the pub dates. I'm pretty happy with where I am now because the pub dates are spread out until next April! Plenty of time to read them all once I get through July. :)
