14. Why do you think Addie puts herself through interactions like she had with Remi? It must be hard to see "lovers" grow old without you and not remember.
She's wanting to feel loved, even if it is fleeting. To feel like she is seen and truly on the mind of a man for no matter how long.
15. Do you like Addie or Henry more so far? Why? Are you finding their stories interesting?
Addie because of her back story. We don’t know enough about Henry’s past just yet. We’ve gotten glimpses, but Henry keeps his cards to himself. I still want to know more about the years of Addies life that had an impact on the entire world.
16. So Addie is going to tell Henry the truth! How do you think this will go? Do you think he will still accept her or even believe her?
I don’t think he will believe her until he sees the forgetfulness in action. Maybe Luc will be invovled
17. We're halfway through the story. Do you have any fun predictions or guesses about what will happen in the second half?
I hope something crazy happens. Luc will probably insert himself into a situation that can’t be fixed and will leave Addie fleeing. Henry’s friends will be a problem. Maybe one of them will be under a similar curse?? Or will be another god from after dark. I’m hoping it’s a little more crazy than the first half.

10. In these parts the darkness comes and checks up on her a few times. What do you make of those conversations - what the darkness says and Adeline's reactions? Who or what do you think Luc is? Do you think something romantic could happen between Luc and Addie?
He is feeding off her emotions. He comes with black curls and green eyes, like the man she’s dreamt of. It’s another level of his playing with her. Whether it is to fulfill some crazy sexual desire of his or to work his way under her skin more, he will try weave something romantic from it.
11. Addie and Henry meet up for coffee which seems to go well. What do you think will come of this relationship? Will it last? Will it be fulfilling for the both of them?
I don’t think Luc/Darkness will allow it to be lasting. Addy is immortal after all. And we still need to find out why Henry can remember her. Luc knows about it, he knows about everything happening with Addy. He’s likely the one controlling the puppet strings.
12. Will it be significant considering Henry could utter Addie's name? Would it be possible that Henry made a deal with Luc thus enabling Addie's and Henry's relationship? Do you think they have met or will meet in the story?
Henry may be under Luc’s spell. Have the customs of 1600s France made its way to 2014 NYC for Henry to pray to Luc after dark? I wonder what his talisman would have been.
13. If you had a lifetime to do as you pleased, what would you do? Where would you go and what would you see?
Everything.

5. At about a fourth of the way through the book, how do you like Addie LaRue as a narrator/person?
I like seeing how much she’s changed from era to era. Schwab does a fantastic job of focusing on her growth as a human, but also her descent into the depression that comes with such loneliness.
6. Are you more interested in Addie’s past or present life (or both)? Why?
Past. How she handled herself during war times knowing she wouldn’t be remembered and using it to her benefit. How she handled living through famine and terror. Where she's all been. And the past always seems more romantic and happier than present day, even if it’s not.
7. How do you think she handled the start of her "curse"?
How anyone would. Freaked the hell out. Run to my parents. Pass out. Cry a lot. Get drunk.
8. Addie seems to have serial one-night stands with the same person. Why do you think she does this, and do you have any concerns with the potential for manipulating the other party? (I am still thinking on this as a power imbalance).
It’s what she can do to create a semblance of a relationship, having someone who cares. It could also be about housing. Having a place to fall asleep at that she knows well and can relax just a little.
9. In this section, we meet Henry. What is your initial reaction to Henry and his ability to remember her?
I don’t know if we’ve even see his ability to remember her yet, or maybe Addie didn’t notice it. It’s not a coincidence that he can remember her. It’s not like one guy got by this curse. Maybe green eyed devil dude is doing it to mess with Addie even further. I don’t like it, but I do what to know more about this god guy from after dark

1. Other than BOM points what attracted you to this book? The rave reviews? The cover? The blurb?
I got it for Book of the Month last year and it’s just been hanging out on my bookshelf looking pretty.
2. Have you read any other books by V.E. Schwab/Victoria Schwab? If so, how does this book compare? If not, what do you think of the book so far?
I read the Shades of Magic series and it’s on of my favorite fantasy series. So far this book lacks an elegance that the Shades of Magic series has. I wish this was more detailed. Stating a date something happens isn’t enough to build the picture in my mind.
3. What are your thoughts on Addie and the bargain she made?
I don’t think she knew what she was doing. She did and she did not. She knew of the Gods after dark and the chaos they might cause, but when he comes to her in the form of a man she desires most, Addie loses all sense of ‘what if’ Her character, because of the time frame and setting, is already very naïve (as she is supposed to be) and too trusting. Her modern-day self is the exact opposite. That is portrayed well.
4. Obviously, selling your soul is going too far but if you were able to get a wish granted what would it be?
There are so many good answers to this. I’d like to say stopping global warming, because so many problems stem from that alone. But I’d also say cold fusion. Unlimited energy without the heat produced would help with the warming of the planet. Cold Fusion, final answer.
