35559 Hey team! Sorry that I haven’t been active the last couple of days. I loved reading all of the recommendations! I’m in a slight reading slump at the moment but really hoping that the start of this competition will help push me back into reading. I’m also taking a mini vacation (Thursday-Tuesday) this coming week. So I’ve been trying to get caught up on my work and plan for a couple days out of the office.

Hi Kirby! I'm also in NC! I would ask about which area you are in but I've only been here about a year and a half and haven't branched out yet. It's fun to see another person in the same area though!

35559 So, I decided to go back through my old comments in this group to figure out how many challenges I’ve participated in. It turns out that I did wobble once (with literally 0 recollection) and tower teams 4 times (I remembered 2). My first TT I did while in college and it was so interesting to read my comments of not knowing what would come after graduation. Then I did some when I was figuring out what to do and one while in grad school (super stressed in comments). I’m super excited to be able to participate in this team challenge when I’m at a more settled part of my life.

How many other team challenges has everyone participated in? What has been your favorite?

35559 I’m going to read Dumplin if I can get it from the library. I want to read some of the Discworld books but I’m not sure where I want to start yet. I’ve watched some YouTube videos to help me narrow my options though. If anyone has any personal suggestions I would I’ve to hear them!!

35559 Hello everyone! I'm Jen and my pronouns are she/her. I live in North Carolina in the US (east cost time), although I'm originally from the west coast. I work as a speech therapist with kids and enjoy reading, geocaching, crafting.

I have slowed down a lot on my reading this year but I'm hoping that this challenge will help motivate.

I haven't read any Discworld novels. After looking into the collection, I'm looking forward to getting into them soon!

And she likes the idea of her family staying together. So, I think she would do it. She would lose that piece of herself, but she would have that baby. Also, when the kids move out, I could see her leaving him.

I totally think he would. I think it would mess with him because I think he likes her for the idea of her and this changes the idea. I also think she might have to compromise on her job or something because he would kind of hold it over her.

35559 COMMENTS OVERALL -- SPOILERS

I can't figure out how to use the spoiler tag, but when I get it, I will go back and edit.

I don't like that she is staying with him. I think since he wasn't cheating, she stays with him, but had he been cheating she would have felt justified to leave. Which not only comes up with a double standard (her actions) but also the idea that only certain things justify ending a relationship. This was just so messy with her not leaving but cheating, not to mention the pregnancy.

I agree with what you said about him not supporting her job. I don't like the idea that the relationships are either all passion or all calm.
35559 I just finished the book. Wow, it did not go the direction I was expecting it to do. In some ways the ending seemed fitting: ending of the relationship similar emotions to the start.
35559 I'm halfway into the book, but I'm starting to get to a point where I might need to finish. It's getting really good.

But in general, I am wondering about how everyone feels about how their relationship started? I think staring a friendship during a highly emotional day really marks that relationship. I'm wondering if it causes the walls to go down and then they can be close, or if it just causes the illusion of closeness. Thoughts?

35559 Alrighty, we have a little over a month left. My competitive side is starting to come out. I'm going to really step it up to get some books read and more points added to our team. Anyone else feeling especially motivated?

35559 Hey guys! So sorry for the huge delay! I made it through the term. I've added the two books I've finished and I am reading two more. I have summer break for this week, but summer term won't be as crazy. I'm going to work really hard to catch up on reading.
