I should finish #1 today and # 7 tomorrow. Then I can start either a 1950's book (#5) or a Earthsea book for trilogy that grew (#3). I'll see what other people are reading then.Chafic, were you reading a Stephen King for 7? Because the audio I got for my drive to my son's college works for 7. I guess it also works for 9, so I can grab that from Chava if that makes things faster.
Maritza, can you get onto the spreadsheet now?
Can everyone access the team spreadsheet? How about we fill in the Book title when we start the book so we don't overlap, and then add in the rest as we finish. That way when you finish your first book you can check to see what you should grab next.
Well, one week to start. If you spot a book that works for the first challenge maybe don't start it yet?And if you want to grab a spot shout out here and I'll keep message 4 updated (or if you want to ungrab a spot). I figure we want to try to finish the first ten in the first week or so.
The mods say we can keep the name Not Yet, so I hope y'all were serious. I like it!I'll try to make a pile of various books that fit the list, so when August come I can look to see if any of them look tasty. Do we want to plan out the rest of the two weeks or just take it as it comes? I'm pretty lazy but if you guys are planners I can bestir myself.
I went back and stole Message 4 to keep a list of books we are volunteering for. It's just for suggestions -- it's not meant to be final.
Well, Calcifer's Cronies was popular, but I think Team Not Yet got the most votes! Go Team Not Yet!My sons are 18 and 20, so they've had the run of my library for a while. I worry a bit that the 18 year old never learned to find books on his own, since his older brother and I hand him so much stuff we think he'd like.
Chava, if your daughter wants to help in the challenge you guys could read some of the Tamora Pierce books. Sandry's Book is the first of the Circle Opens series and it's great for that age -- either in print or in FULL CAST AUDIO, so it would count for #4. The book just has to exist in audio to count -- you can read it either way.
I like classic mysteries, so maybe I can find one from the 1950s.
For example, the book The Valley of Shadows which I'm giving to my son before I get to read it is:8. Zombies on cover (they are carniverous!)
7. written by John Ringo, so lots of titles
6 Number 6 in series
3 I think this was supposed to be a trilogy!
2 Has 2 authors
1 Mike Massa's debut book
So maybe I should save it for an August read!
No starting books early, and we can't start books for the extra point stuff until after we finish all the Count Down tasks. (I just went and reread all this stuff). So only books started on or after August 12 count.Yes, grab any that you like, If two people want the same task, I think we should yield to whomever can finish it first. Some are easier than others.
While we wait for Maritza to chime in on name we can eyeball the tasks for for round 1, which is at: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...
How comfortable is everyone with google sheets? Just in case, I'll copy the countdown tasks, which we'd have to complete before going for extra Group Tasks. Of course, Round 1 doesn't start until August 12, so who knows what we'll be reading in that distant future..
