Thanks so much for your generosity! In my feeble defense, since I didn't use the anthology for a challenge I never noticed that Goodreads "helpfully" listed half the short story writers as co-authors. I had heard him on a podcast talking about how excited he was when his short story submission landed him a chance to write with John Ringo and become a "real author", so I only knew this was his debut novel. It never entered my head that this was controversial, but I should have thought of it!
Let's see if we can cover Stage II before we commit. Otherwise we can just try to put the extra books into words for stage III.
OK, I'll get to work on Magic Triumphs. You'll probably beat me! Once we have L A V A done we need to decide whether to try Stage II or jump to Stage III.I've found a book that has lava on the cover and lava in the text (2-iii), but I'm not having much luck with the other tasks. Anyone got anything?
Also, we could eye Stage 2 to see if we want to try that or jump to Stage 3 and try to piece some words together. Those books look a bit harder to identify.
I have 30 minutes left on The Julius House and want to read Magic Triumphs which was a BOM. So those are the two A's in Lava -- can anyone read a L or V book?
Is this a better place to ask about a disqualified book?(Copied from Questions for the Vulcanologists)
Hi moderators.
I read The Valley of Shadows as Mike Massa's debut book for task 1. While he wrote a short story that was included in the anthology Black Tide Rising I don't think that counts as writing a whole book. The first time he was involved in a novel length story was the book that I read.

I think books we've started since the round began can be used in the Safe Zones, so if there is something you started but not finished you can use it.I guess try not to finish things until you know where they go?
We ran out of time -- we only read 8 books (I'm trying to get credit for my book 1, since it was Massa's first novel although he had a short story out before).Let's move onto the Safe Zone -- can we do Zone 1? Spell it out for L A V A? One of us has to find a book that either another team used or that was a previous month BOM.
Let's sign up for Zone 1, and while we are reading the Zone 1 book look for fits for Zone 2.

Anyone have anything for 8 (carnivorous animal on cover) or 4 (audio has 4 voices) ? I should finish my Earthsea book tonight so I guess I could start one of those. The animal is easy; the only four voice books I know are the Tamora Pierce ones.
Chafic -- any luck with the spreadsheet? If not, do you want me to fill in the book you are currently working on?
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...Or like this: Spreadsheet
I got this link from the doc's "Share" feature but I don't know if it's different from the ones above.
Chava had to poke them to get access. It says it's accessible to whoever has the link but it seems to be glitchy.
Chafic, do you want me to put it in the spreadsheet for you?Chava, I'm going to finish a book tomorrow (Thursday, US) that has nine characters. Does yours fit anywhere else?
After I finish the drive home, I"m thinking I'll start the book for task 3, although if someone else grabs that I'll switch to something else. Let's remember to update the spreadsheet when we start something!
