Gorgeous book. Sounds interesting too.

I also managed to delete another 3. It's funny how i found that hard in the beginning, like the first few times I dnf a book. But now there is something rather satisfying about letting a book go.

Just knocked another four off my tbr but added one from a previous post. The tbr truly never gets shorter. C'est la vie.
I've increased my goal from 30 to 50, since I just finished #46. I hope i can get another 4 in before year's end.

Was defo not worth the wait. I have a real hit and miss relationship with Seanan McGuire. I'll try the next one, but I'll go in with lower expectations. I mean how man times did she needs to reference dance in this?!! We get it.

Very interesting idea and beautifully written.

It's Nora Roberts, she's always dependable for a three star read. It's hilarious that it's set in 2053, so they're talking about now like ancient history. I mean guns from the 90s are antiques. It's not even 100 years. It's still living memory for some. Still fun.

I liked it while listening. The narrators did a brilliant job. And it's a bonkers but wonderful concept. Yet, when I finished I wasn't longing for for more. I was a little glad it was finally over. Know what i mean?

Loved being back in Charley's world. Might do this as my series re-read in 2024.

Too many tabs open at once. Sorry Pop! I am so organised.

Lol! Doh🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️

Some pretty decent options already. I like anything but cozy mystery! Cranberry sauce and macaroni &cheese are particularly good ones. If we go for opening an option, I plump for cornbread. I miss cornbread so much. And sweet tea. And biscuits and gravy. I make myself iced tea all the time, but there's a two week window where i can make sun tea over here. Y'all appreciate the sun, if youre lucky enough to live somewhere with it shining constantly.

What's worse is that i actually read a different book on the 16th that would have finished our last spell out. I just forgot to put it on the list.😡

I'm so sorry about an easy death in the last round 😭😭😭 i just didn't get the chance. I have had so much going on.

Wishing you a speedy recovery, Christina. Covid sucks!

that would make sense lol thank you!"I'm assuming it works. It's not capitalised but he is never referred to without the article. And Piranesi's index is "other, the," followed by what ever else.
Judy wrote: "Keli, can you make sure Piranesi is on your shelf? Thanks! :)"Sure thing. All good now.

I think i missed the bday post. Hapy birthday, Aoife.

I've just finished Murmur of the Bees and will halt Piranesi until Sunday. So Discount Armageddon will be my last book.
Judy wrote: "Keli, any chance you'd hold off finishing Piranesi until the deadline tomorrow? It's a blue cover with a flute on it so we could max out the bonus...
(if there are any character names that are goi..."Sure thing. I just need to have it read by the 6th.

So I'll get Murmur of Bees and piranesi finished tonight. As I have to read
Discount Armageddon by 4pm est Saturday. It will probably be down to the wire, I think will be in this round. I'll shelve it and try to get it posted.
Christina wrote: "Keli, while checking your shelf I saw you finished Starboard Secrets on Oct 21. Do you happen to remember if you finished it before or after the countdown to Round 2 hit 0?"I finished it at 12:45pm gmt on the 21st. I'm not sure if that's before or after the countdown

Do we need a red cover? Cos my hitchhikers was very red.
Tricia wrote: "Finally read
This has been on my TBR since 2015 and unfortunately, I didn't like it. I thought it was super boring! It was 200 pages of dysfunctional youth friends..."That book haunted me. I kept asking people if they'd read it. Finally, I asked my friend to read it so I could talk to him about it. I thought the juxtaposition of the mundane writing to the horror of the story made the telling that much more sinister and heartbreaking. It was detached, like the people in that world were detached from the ethical or moral issues of cloned human beings. It was not emotional, so that you, the reader, could explore your own feelings as you realised what was unfolding. At least, that's how I viewed the blandness of the writing. The thought that it would be okay to raise a human, and instill in them from birth that all they are good for and meant for are donations to others, and that they will die young is twisted. They are slated for a life of dysfunction. As you can see, it still lingers with me. I finished that book and was a ball of emotion.

Added another six. Most were three stars,
The Final Girl Support Group,
The Castle of Otranto &
Zombie's Bite were all okay.
A Farewell to Arms was very meh. It will be my last Hemingway book, he just isn't my thing. I'm not his intended audience, with his causual racism and stilted simple sentences. The worst book was
Zoo City. Beukes created an interesting world but it was too full of animal cruelty and child abuse and murder for me. It was unnecessary and prolific. The best book of those six was
Flowers in the Attic. Though this contained child cruelty too, and the villains were truly villainous, there was something not gratuitous about it like there was in Zoo City.
I've put my oldest book from my tbr on to the top of my "up next" pile. I'm hoping to finally tick off
Heart of Darkness.
