35559 Hi all, I'm excited to be on a team with y'all. RachelG, I'm competitive too. But since I'll probs only contribute 10 - 12 books a month, I can't be too competitive 🤣

I live in England, but I am originally from Texas by way of South Dakota. I have a young adult daughter, an English husband, and an old man Jack Russell. I spend my days reading, doing nails, and, at the moment, handmaking blank journals (mostly cloth cover, but I've got two paper ones planned).

I will read anything but tend to stay away from true crime, autobiographies and cosy mysteries, though I do occasionally read these. My fave genres are all the others. But I particularly love a kickass female protagonist. And fantasy - urban, high, epic, paranormal, dark- I love 'em all.

This is my first time being a co-captain but after maybe 8 NBRC group challenges, I felt it was time to take the plunge. Please be forgiving of me. 😬😬😬

I look forward to winning. ☺️

I got that out of the library a couple weks ago. Still haven't started it. But I've been reading a lot of literature lately for other challenges, particularly for a banned book challenge I'm in, and have been surprised by how good they've been. I had hopes for Grapes of Wrath, it's a regularly banned book. Is it dry? Does nothing happen?

I know I rate pretty harshly compared to most people, but I like to save my 5 stars for the special ones. Bob got the 5! 😁"

You were much more generous with the two books mentioned above. I rated them both two and you gave them four stars. I do appreciate that you don't often go the full 5. I am beginning to rein that in. I gave 5 stars willy-nilly for so long. It's shocking that I gave some Twilight saga and Throne of Glass books 5 stars!

I've compared our books, and aside from the Bell Jar and the Old Man and the Sea, we are pretty much the same in our rating of shared books. I may use my May audible credit for it.

35559 Although, I have decided that if I am unwilling to spend money ln it, then ot should probs be removed. So I am sort of doing that. We Are Legion (We Are Bob) has thrown me for a loop. Has anyone read this? Is it worth the £15 + shipping?

35559 I still have a general maze going but I'd like a fantasy/sci-fi one too. If it's fantasy or sci-fi, I'll choose fantasy first. Thank you. 😁

35559 I ticked of another tbr book
Plain Bad Heroines by Emily M. Danforth ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Added 2020

It was slow and some parts were better than others, but overall I enjoyed it. Not scary, though it's a horror, but definitely creepy and icky. Lacks resolution, but i kind of don't mind. Emily Danforth's writing is really engaging and charming..

35559 Thank you all for the recs. I have reserved Homecoming from the library. I couldn't get the Gathering Dark on Everand, but it did bring up some related audiobooks. One, My Name Is Revenge: A novella and collected essays sounded good. So I downloaded that one. I am not in the right emotional space for Once Were Warriors. I saw the movie, which was absolutely amazing and heartbreaking and would love to read the book one day. I will, however, purchase it. I think it might be one to own.
