35559 Nice! Maybe we can knock out a couple of cards. I'll work on the idioms one while I watch the Cubs play.

35559 I'm going to dump the cards where we don't even get one XP per book used. Our books are too precious to spend 4 books for 2 XP.

35559 Discarded a few to try to get us another monster in the morning!

We need #6, #10, and #11 to level up again.
#1, #5, #6, #7, #8, #10, #11, #12 for the next weapon.

And for the cards:
Read a book that contains an idiom.

35559 Good morning, team!

I have to head to work early--our sprinkler system failed and one of my stores flooded this morning. Plus it's my daughter's 17th birthday. So after I fight this monster, I need to get out of here.

I will be back tonight to update us!

It took me actually doing it to get what was happening, too!

I have a #8 I can read next.

And I just finished a 12 in series"

So every time we go up against a monster, it compares our attack (the series book levels) to the monster's health.
For this one, it was Attack: 25 Health: 65
Our attack is 22. I added on a damage potion to raise our attack for one hit to 27 (+5 for one hit). I also applied a poison potion to the monster so it took a -3 to its health for each turn as well.

Here's the battle log:
Hero poisons Merely Kats for 3 damage. Merely Kats has 62 health remaining.
Poison hits Merely Kats with 3 damage. Merely Kats has 59 health remaining.
Hero attacks Merely Kats with 27 attack. Merely Kats has 32 health remaining.
Merely Kats hits hero for 25 attack. Hero has 9 health remaining.

Then I healed us with a potion, and we attacked again until the Merely Kat had zero health remaining.

The sewer rat only had 15 health so we killed it with our 22 attack in one hit.

35559 Hey, Mammoths, I can't remember who recommended A Place of Execution to me, but thank you! I listened to the audio and thought it was great.

I had never read Val McDermid before and now I will check out the other books.

35559 I say dump cards 1, 3, and 4 and focus on 2 and 5.

Any thoughts?

35559 Does anyone have a book with TRIANGLE in the title ready to go? If not, we should discard that one.

35559 I lied. I think I will keep the CIRCLE card. I found a book that has circle in the title that I think I can get to this weekend or Monday at the latest.

35559 We need a #7 in series and a #12 in series to complete our weapon for level 12.

If you don't have either of those, you can read any series number or read what you want and I'll try to make it fit!

No, Jonah is in C is for Corpse. I double-checked. :)

I like Jonah until Dietz came on the scene. Then I wanted her to end up with Dietz. This is one of my favorite series. I love Kinsey so much!

35559 The big monster is dead! It cost us a bit of gold to keep healing but it was worth it to level up again.

Let's decide what to keep and discard tonight. We won't be able to work on all cards so cast your vote for the easiest, fastest ones to complete.
