Poor Neville!

(view spoiler)[I felt so bad for Neville when they ran into him at St. Mungo's. He's grown up without his parents, and they really don't remember him but he and his grandmother continue to go visit.

I think it drove home that he really wants to be part of the gang but is on the outskirts, too. His grandmother knew everyone and said he talks about them to the point that she could say their names before they did. Poor guy. That whole chapter made me sad for him. (hide spoiler)]

Annalisa, I completely agree about the ending and it seeming like an overreaction. Maybe it will make more sense in the next book?

I think I would have been fine with her saving him with her blood and the fallout from that, although they really glossed that part over, in my opinion. Lexi, I can see where you are coming from. I think it was a bit heavy-handed about (view spoiler)[ the shadowed man and how her mom kept her spellbound until Matthew was in her life. But what bugged me is that she literally can do all forms of magic. I know she was trying to drive home that two super powerful magic-makers had a baby but Diana is just too perfect. (hide spoiler)]
That bugged. I really enjoyed the book overall and have read it like 4 times so I'm just nitpicking.

Oh, good thought! Maybe this is what is happening. I hadn't considered this angle.

I know! It was a first-time read for me, but I know some of you have read it before. I wondered how hard it would be to keep your answers from giving things away that might be answered in the next book.
