Perfect. Thanks, Donna! :)

35559 1. The Witches: Salem, 1692
I read Cleopatra: A Life by the same author and I really enjoyed it. I cannot believe that this book is written by the same author. She made the Salem witch trials sound boring which I didn’t even know was possible. Such a shame because I was so excited about it!

2. Little Women
I think this is a book I should have read when I was younger. I found it to be so saccharine sweet that my teeth started hurting while reading 🥴 I have nothing against wholesome books but this was overkill for me

3. 1Q84
All I remember from this book is how freaking weird it was! I literally did not understand the point lol. That being said I’ve been told that if you have not read Murakami this is not the book to start with. This is probably true because it has completely turned me off of reading any of his other books

Oh fun! Which music festival did you go to? :)

35559 I have a couple questions (apologies in advance!):

1) I have been reading way more than my projected 3 books / week because of all the other challenges I have been doing. What is the highest number of books we can read as a group without being penalized? The longer books should slow me down a bit but is it possible to ask the mods to increase my books per week before we start or is it pretty much set in stone now?

2) Can we include books that we do not finish and use the number of pages read or do we have to complete the whole book? Say, I read 100 pages of a 300 page book and I do not want to continue. Can I still get points for the 100 pages? I am assuming because it is TT that you would have to finish!

3) This may be a stupid question but is this a week by week challenge or does it roll over? Do you have to start and finish everything you plan on reading for the week? Or can you finish the following week?

🙈

I think shorter books are better for challenges like the maze & Quidditch. Not all parts of TT are for everyone. Quidditch was super fast paced and not designed for the slow readers BUT there were positions where slower readers could help. The mods design TTs to be for everyone. There is gonna be stuff that you prefer and stuff that other people prefer better. There is always DRAMA and this year is no different. The drama wheel already started and the challenge hasn't.

Despite the drama, we always have fun and we make friends. A group of us kept the Gryffindor Maze chat running all year. We still use it.

I guarantee you will have fun. Just chat, read and enjoy the ride."

Last year's TT sounds like it was so fun!! So sad I missed the HP theme!

The chipmunks got something up their sleeves that they are not telling us about. Besides, they have to at least try to top last year. Not sure they can but they will try."

I think I'm most excited about the mini challenges! Is that naive of me? ;)

35559 I have to think about what my fave/bad books are. They're always changing! Have any of you posted on there yet?

Thanks for the link, Lexi! I voted for Pachinko by Min Jin Lee as it’s the only book I currently own.

35559 So I went a little crazy and bought a bunch of books recently. I’ve been able to slot them all in based on colours but am second guessing myself for these ones:

The Pirate Wars by Peter Earle - Brown
Madame Tussaud A Life in Wax by Kate Berridge - I may be reaching but Yellow because of her dress and bottom section of cover
Clockwork Futures The Science of Steampunk and the Reinvention of the Modern World by Brandy Schillace - Brown
A History of Christianity The First Three Thousand Years by Diarmaid MacCulloch - Red

Can I please get a second opinion? :)

35559 I will for sure finish my books for tasks 8 and 9 tonight but haven’t started my prickly book yet. I should finish that by tomorrow but if anyone else has a book that fits and who can finish before me, go for it! :)

Oh I feel like Sarah Waters is an author that I will love but for some reason have not gotten around to reading!

35559 I am normally a mood reader as well but lately have really been enjoying planning ahead of time. This will probably last a few weeks until I go back to reading by whim again!

35559 Thanks, Donna!

Just because I’m nosy, what books will you all be starting with in week 1? :) Or are you more of a mood reader?

35559 LOL! 😆

If it doesn’t work as a colour, I can use it for Contemporary! It’s 1,000 pages so it will add a lot of points regardless
