35559 @Colleen and Emily. You are on a reserve list. Sometimes a team will have someone not check in or be unable to participate. When that happens reserves are added to teams. If that happens you will be messaged.

35559 I wanted to let everyone know there is a back room BOM for October and it starts on the 20th. You have to request access to the group as the books are not appropriate for the main group. The book for the month is Save the Date and it is currently free for Kindle.

Here is the link for the BOM discussion. You will need to request access to the group if you don’t already have it. https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

I have a hold on Sorcery of Thorns. Sounds like I’m in for a treat.

35559 I just finished an additional book from 2017 that was one I didn't originally plan on reading. Shōgun is probably one of the best books I've read this year. It took me a very long time to listen to the audiobook, but it was worth it. The end of the book was able to surprise me and that is after spending 46 hours getting to know these characters. It reminded me of some of the epic fantasy novels where you have enough detail you feel like you could live in the world. The difference is this was historical fiction. I'm not sure how accurate the history was, but the story and characters were great.

35559 Hi Team Superbia,

We are very excited to be playing with you. Please give us a short introduction so we can get to know everyone. This doesn’t have to be a novel just share a few of your favorite books, and if you have participated in Tower Teams before.

This is my second year playing, and my first as a co-captain. I just finished listening to Shōgun by James Clavell and I think it is going to end up on my favorite list. It is historical fiction set in Japan. It covers a relatively short period of time but I felt like I was living with the characters. Another favorite is Ancillary Justice by Anne Leckie. The entire series was a pretty big surprise. It created a believable world and societies that our main character interacts with. Also, the lack of gender importance was really cool. My favorite guilty pleasure read is To Catch a Pirate by Jade Parker, the main character is named Annalisa.

If anyone has any questions please let us know we are here to help.

35559 This should answer you question from the captain’s group:

“As you assign each book to a sin, using one of the three categories you will get bonus points. If you are lucky enough to find a book that meets all three requirements (two for Avarice), you can call Sin Bingo!”

35559 I was more wondering about the negative points for under and over reading during the month. But now that I’m thinking about it would be pretty difficult to end the challenge with negative points. Well unless all you wonderful mods give out the negative points like candy at Halloween.

Depends on how many negative points it is, but it seems like it will even out quickly.

I wonder if it would be possible to end with negative points.
