Hi Imke! Glad you're joining us. I think you are where I am in the book (so around 17%),
(view spoiler)[ I'm about to read when the raven boys are going to meet Blue's family for the reading. (hide spoiler)] With you two liking it so far I feel I should give it a better chance. I like group reads because it gives me the push I don't have when reading alone. I will read a bit now before going to sleep.

786 pp, ★★★★, Buddy Read"Cynthia, I read the 3 books in the series so far, and I'm eagerly awaiting the release of the 4th in 2015, but Lies of Locke Lamora is by far in my opinion the best.
(view spoiler)[I think it's because so many of the main cast of characters got killed in the first book and the lack of their presence shows in the subsequent books. I feel that 'void' where in the first book you got attached to interesting characters as Bug, Nazca (especially Nazca imo), Caldo, even the bondsmage etc. Book 2 has a completely other feel to it, although not necessarily bad but less like Lies if that makes sense.
I was disappointed with the 3rd book for a whole other reason. (hide spoiler)]["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

You got to like Belle, she says 'it's just like in the books' :) I'm still so envious of her library she got from the beast :p
Danielle, love the christmassy profile pic!

Nicole, yes, I'm not too big on YA but the book was recommended to me, and it has a fairly high rating and I heard great things about it too.
I'm going very slow, I'm currently 17% in. I still think the book is kind of slow, and I'm also feeling a little bit bored so I hope it picks up soon (I'm just read a fast paced thriller before so that might be it).
(view spoiler)[ Yes, I did like the beginning from Blue's point of view, I thought it was interesting and had that Gothic/mysterious vibe. But I do not care about the raven boys pov's. I realised that when the pov changed from Gansey/Adam to Blue, I definitely wake up when Blue is talking.
About the writing style, I think it's a bit overly descriptive and verbose, also too much metaphors that are lost on me. I realise that a lot of readers enjoy Stiefvater's style but I'm one of those readers that prefers straightforward writing (although I can also appreciate the former if well done :)).
Also, any thoughts about the prophecy? It's definitely Gansey and Blue but I wonder which part the other Raven boys will play in the story. (hide spoiler)]How is it going for you?

I'm planning to buddy read The Secret Keeper. I didn't realise I had a copy of it I found at a book fair until it got mentioned here :) I never read Kate Morton before, looking forward to it!

Is it The Secret Keeper by Kate Morton?

I'm 10% in the book.
(view spoiler)[So far I found the beginning really slow. The first couple of chapters were a bit confusing, but I think that's because I didn't read the blurb before reading, it makes much more sense now. I've never read M. Stiefvater before so I'm still adjusting to her writing style. (hide spoiler)]

Thanks Tea!

There is 'old' BOM thread here. Will that work for y..."It's good for me :)
Erin wrote: "I want to read Three Musketeers for sure. Not sure about the others. *lurk*"Yay! Taryn (I think/hope) and I will be reading the entire series so if you end up deciding you want to continue the series, you're always welcome :) Erin, if you like historical fiction with a lot of adventure, intrigue, and a bit of romance thrown in, I would definitely suggest the rest of the series. It's been a while since I've read them but I remember having a great time.

. Would anyone here want to start a buddy read of it with me over the next couple of days?"I'm currently reading it. If you want we can discuss it together and other will probably join us?

@ Karen:
(view spoiler)[ Glad you enjoyed it! Yes, shivers at 'the mother in the plant' part, it's sad she didn't survive. I wonder if we will see Spider in the next book.
I liked those chapters when Cerise read about her grandfather and 'the Box', it had a spooky vibe to it. It's also only then that I put two and two together :p (hide spoiler)]

@ Cynthia: You shouldn't feel bad, a large part of your points total come from doing BRs and BOMs too, besides people tend to read more during the challenges. I agree with my other teammates, these team challenges are for fun, no pressure :)

@ Sheila: "A list of all our past and present BOM and BR threads are listed on
this spreadsheet updated approx. weekly." Sorted alpabetically.
I hope this helps Sheila (I don't immediately see your book on the list). I agree that the BR threads is out of control :p
Edit: What Kathleen said :)

- Good but not for the faint of heart. I really like Hank, there were some strong emotional scenes with him. Other characters aren't that likeable, their behaviour are quite erratic, especially Lena. Still enjoying it a lot.
