I just started chapter 10. (view spoiler)[There's a lot of background expanation and such, but I'm really liking it. My favourite character so far has to be Orma. It's interesting to see how he struggles with the way to show his emotion - or rather not showing his emotion - towards Seraphina. It was really sweet when he spontaneously implied that he doesn't want to loose Seraphina. And I loved when he said he couldn't make the decision concerning his father because he was too 'emotionally involved'. I understand the way of thinking of the dragons, which is based on rationality. Maybe the humans and dragons will learn from each other :) (hide spoiler)]

Some random thoughts while reading:

(view spoiler)[I feel for the little dragons/lizards living in the city (I forgot their names). The way they keep their items in their gullet seems convient :p

Huh, prince Lucian is a bastard and Glisselda's fiancé?! Need to know more about this. Also Glisselda sounds like a spoiled child.

The visions finally make sense. So I suppose all the grotesques are half-dragons. Poor Miss Fusspots, of all the things having a tail, not practical to sit on. (hide spoiler)]

Review: Last installment in the Howl's Moving Castle series. Not as good as the first two but still enjoyable.

I'm about the start chapter 5 (that's approx. 16% in the book I think).

(view spoiler)[I'm liking the author's writing style. So far not much happened. Up to the point I read we had mainly flashbacks & visions. Personally the style is engaging enough for me but I do hope the story will pick up and there will be a little bit more action later on.
I think it's the author's way to get to know Seraphina and to have a better idea how the relations between dragons-humans really are. I really want to learn more about the dragons. Looking forward to festival about the peace treaty. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[The dragon earrings are interesting, also I expected the earrings to be magical rather than mechanical :) I hope to learn more about that. Karen, I agree about how the mother could keep her identity secret from her husband. I think maybe she was really that good at integrating in human society, a bit like Orma, that nobody suspected? I like Orma but I silently wish he would show more emotion towards Seraphina, even though it's not in their nature.

Totally agree Karen! The order/organization Seraphina does in her head is interesting but at the same time weird :p It read like she could physically wander through her visions/thoughts? I wonder how far this is important later since she was talking about the persons (grotesques) as if they were living in real life. (hide spoiler)]

- Altough this is not one of her best, I really enjoy D.W. Jones writing style. This book is clearly meant for a very young audience compared to her later books. It's the kind of book that you read for your children. All D.W. Jones writings are intended for a young audience but they show a lot of maturity, especially compared to today's YA.

I'm still in too, I was just a bit lost with which book to read first :p
I read a bit today and so far I'm liking it. I like the writing style. Curious to see where it goes. I will read a bit tonight *checks the clock* okay now, and then check the questions :)

- Fifth installment of a very enjoyable light UF series with a heavy dose of humour. I do not much care about the romance part in the book since I'm not that fond of the male love interest, but I'm having a good time with the series and think it's really funny (view spoiler)[I laughed out loud when Strawberry Shortcake brushed Charley's hair with a toilet brush! (hide spoiler)]. Also the side characters are great and I wish we get to know more about them, the focus of the series is a bit too much on the two main characters. I would like the have chapters from the side characters' point of views, they seem in some occasions more interesting to me. Planning to continue the series.

I'm a bit late to the discussion. I love FictFact, I think it's almost a little over a year I have an account and like to track my series there and I especially like to check out the new releases calendar. Altough I still think GR is more accurate than FF when it comes to exact release dates (when dates suddenly changes) or how many books planned in a series, GR is better for that, still great website.

Love the battle of the elements challenge! Time to listen to some Earth, Wind & Fire :) I love that group. I mostly read between the 300 - 600 pages. I don't have any 900+ planned though.

I'm planning to participate to the BOM of A Modern Witch once my current reads are done.

I love to learn! I have fond memories (and also less fond memories) of High School, only recently my friend and I were exchanging High School stories and we laughed so hard. This year there's our 5 year Reunion, so I'm excited to see my former classmates again. I have mixed feelings about University, I loath the institution and their way of thinking but I liked the courses. But I also think it depends on the university and the people around you. I'm glad Uni is done for me.

Out of the list in post 1, I agree with and because I admit I picked these books up mainly because of their covers. They are quite captivating, and they have that mysterious vibe I like.
From 2014 I also like the covers of and . Otherwise I really like this cover , especially the depiction of the village in the background and the fact that it's in sepia colours adds something.

@ Karen: I really didn't notice the body the first time. I liked the group read we did for that book, I'm looking forward to Day Shift :)

@ Jessica: Gates of Thread and Stone is quite beautiful too, I'm tempted to add it just because of the cover :p I agree about the Lunar Chronicles, all the covers in the series are well done, and I'm curious for the cover for Winter. In some editions the imprint is in relief.

Yes, my thoughts exactly. (view spoiler)[It was a bit too long here and there, they split up then re-unite again plus 2 (Kai & Cress) minus one (Scarlet), that's pretty much it. I noticed that Wolf and Scarlet had minor roles in this books, and although Wolf frequently showed up, he wasn't talkative, I can't really recall his brooding nature.

Princess Winter seems an interesting character, her interaction with Scarlet was one of the best chapter in the book, I hope she doesn't turn out Cress #2. (hide spoiler)] I will probably read the next book Winter but I'm not in a hurry, for the moment I'm more interested in Fairest.
