35559 Finished Burn for Me (Hidden Legacy, #1) by Ilona Andrews by Ilona Andrews - 20/01/2015 - ★★★★ - 400 pages

A Paranormal/Urban-fantasy series by one of my favourite authors (I think this one leans more towards the UF genre). The book is situated somewhere between their paranormal romance, The Edge series, and their fantastic UF series, Kate Daniels. It's not that heavily focused on the romance so that's a plus but it is present. There's a lot of action, banter between the characters, and intrigue going on. A very enjoyable read. I'm definitely planning to continue this series!

P.S.: The cover is misleading, it's not as cheesy as it seems ;)

35559 I hope you enjoy NancyHelen!
35559 I agree with your observations about Hank. (view spoiler)

Yes of course! I'll be interested to read your thoughts on Kisscut, I will make sure to pop in the thread :)
35559 I've read Blindsighted and Kisscut during Tower Teams. I'm really loving this series, and I agree it can be quite brutal & gruesome. I recommend it bit it's not for the faint of heart.

Becky and Emma, I agree about Jeffrey and Sara. (view spoiler)

About Lena: (view spoiler)

I see you have requested a BR for Kisscut. If you plan to continue with the series I would like to join you for A Faint Cold Fear :)

35559 I think I will try The Martian for February. It has been nominated and won in several groups I'm in but I was never in the mood for it, so time to pick it up now. Not big on YA in general. I never heard of Landline, I might try the it.

I think it depends on your reading speed. For some readers the BOM is going too fast. We've had some great discussions around BOM. I like it because it's at my speed and the thread will always be active, unlike other groups I'm in where nobody bothers to participate and it feels like you're talking to yourself. It happens that I read ahead when I really like a book but I still come back to read other readers' answers and eventually comment. Also sometimes I tend to overlook things in books, by reading other people thoughts I can have more insight into a book. So that's some of the reasons why NBRC has better discussions imo and why I prefer to do groupreads here rather than in other groups I'm in. But I understand that it can be too slow for others :)

Re: Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell - Same here. I tried to read the book last year and I'm around page 300 for several months now (I put it on hold). I have the book both in audiobook and paperback so I tried to alternate but I kept falling asleep during the audiobook and in the end I couldn't remember what happened before. I think the book has great potential and I like the writing style but it's really slow paced.

9th book in my favourite historical mystery. I'm still really enjoying it so far.

Lol, that's a good one!

Ha, I wonder if I haven't reached full brain capacity for another language. I thought learning Spanish or Italian next, I will have to put Croatian on the list just to read those books :) Yes please! (I wonder how much Google translate is going to butcher it)

Kat just rubbed me the wrong way from the beginning, she isn't mean or anything but compared to Hero...And Sebastian got on my nerve constantly thinking about Kat. I still have to read book 9 but I just checked yesterday and the ebook price is still around 8 euros, I think it will drop when book 10 comes out. I hope :)

35559 Tea thanks for the link! It's really captivating and wants me to read it even more, but there is still a part of the story missing :p So Tomo Crni is yours right ;) Does he finally end up with Dorja at the end of the story? I've read stories where that happens too, when the hero can't have the girl but often I just wish he would forget about her and move on with some else and then see how they slowly fall in love (a bit like Sebastian and Kat/Hero in the Sebastian St. Cyr series :)).

35559 I'm here too! I just got from the library to turn in overdue books. I extended my loan just before Christmas to be sure but with all the festivities I didn't check the date. Anyway that was a 6 euros fine. Sadly I haven't been able to read all the books I had because I kept being distracted by others *sigh*

I'm currently finishing two books, so I will have two more books for this week. We are still doing great :)

Also the poll results are up. One of my reading resolutions for this group is to at least read one BOM each month. Since I joined NBRC I read/discovered books I wouldn't usually read, even though I didn't like them all, I enjoy doing groupreads in this group the most.

Yep, I learnt two words already :p
Now, you got me curious :)! It's a pity there isn't a English translation since it's historical fiction I would definitely check this out if there was one.
35559 Kathleen wrote: "I don't know if it's just me but I'm a little detached with the book. Hopefully the latter half of the book quells it."

I understand what you mean. It gets a bit better in the second half with a bit more intrigue but the narration basically stays the same. I'm still enjoying the ride (I'm 83% in) but there's definitely something missing. I like the worldbuilding and Hartman's writing style. I haven't been bored so far, so that's definitely a plus. I'm not sold on the romance though, (view spoiler).
Also I love Orma, he's without a doubt my favourite character.

I will join you Sarah! I'm also good about the date.
35559 I'm planning to start The Three Musketeers at the end of this month once my current reads are done. It's a re-read for me but it's been 10 years ago, I can't wait to start this BR :)
