35559 Hellow everyone, my name is Sneaky Whiskeybreath. Nice to meet you all. I'm searching for the pot of whis-- *ahem* I mean gold at the end of the rainbow. Let's have some mighty craic shall we!

35559 @Sophie: yes, I noticed that :) How are you liking the India Black series? I need to read the first book for another challenge, the short story got me intrigued but I'm not convinced by the main character yet.

35559 Finished A Texan's Luck - 01/03 - 2,5 stars, the book works for the Petropavlovsk detour. I was right, the hero doesn't want to have a wife/arranged marriage and turns the heroine down only to realise two years later that he actually loves her :) And it has been shelved twice as 'second chance romance'.
Feb 29, 2016 11:13AM

35559 Finished my short story today India Black and the Rajah's Ruby - 29/02 - 3 stars

The 'last chance' task seems to be the most difficult for me as well. I think A Texan's Luck will fit for this detour because the main character comes back to the heroine after rejecting her. So I guess it's logical he has to win her over :)

Thank you Katie and Sophie, I've been invited to the second round of interview which I had today *fingers crossed*

Great Sophie, I hope you will like Daughter of the Forest as well!

35559 I finished my book Daughter of the Forest - 28/02 - 3,5 stars

Katie and Danielle, I didn't cry (I'm not too fond of that either and I don't like much angst too) but it was emotionally gripping and a couple of times I thought 'I can't handle this any more'. However I couldn't put the book down and I grew attached to the characters so I will read the sequel as soon as possible. It's a retelling of The Six Swans tale by the brothers Grimm. It also has some romantic elements. I hope it's a good read for you as well Danielle :)

35559 I'm sorry our team has to explore Egypt so extensively this week. I'm 61% in Daughter of the Forest and it's amazing, it's been a while since I've enjoyed a fantasy book that much. Don't know if anyone of you read it? I will have it done by tomorrow. The whole week I had to go to job interviews, it took all my courage.
Feb 20, 2016 01:21PM

35559 Thank you Mary for your feedback on And Only to Deceive, I will keep that in mind. I'm picking my 500+ pages book now, there was another book I couldn't wait to read first.

We have a weird winter too, we had warm weather until the beginning of January. Now it's payback time, we had minus 3 degrees last two weeks, now it's 11 degrees again. And there's too much wind!

Katie, I have the Raine Benares series on my tbr list. Is it any good? Your two year old curiosity is really cute, she's like an explorer ;)
Feb 16, 2016 12:45PM

35559 I will read Daughter of the Forest (Sevenwaters, #1) by Juliet Marillier (544 pages) for our next stop in Hurghada. And India Black and the Rajah's Ruby A Madam of Espionage Mystery by Carol K. Carr (58 pages) for our stop in Nizhny Novgorod.
Feb 16, 2016 12:34PM

35559 Finished my book for our third stop today. It's my first introduction to the chick-lit genre and I quite liked it. I might try some other novels by the same author.
Living Dangerously by Katie Fforde by Katie Fforde 16/02/'16, 3 stars.

I regret to read that your book was a bummer, Mary. I was really looking forward to pick up that series next.

35559 I finished Death on Beacon Hill (Gilded Age Mystery, #3) by P.B. Ryan by P.B. Ryan today 11 february. The book can be used for the Almaty spell-it-out, it works for the letters:
M or T - Max Thurston (character)
Feb 10, 2016 12:33PM

35559 For or first detour, purple text on the cover, I think I'm going to try Living Dangerously by Katie Fforde . I found a copy at a bookfair and it's a standalone.
Feb 09, 2016 02:33AM

35559 I agree for the detours. The detour for Almaty seems to be the most difficult one for me as well. If it wasn't for the 'top shelves' requirement I could've find something. For the detour for Gunnison we also have the possibility to read a book set in a fictional setting, maybe it could be loosely interpreted. But I'm good with either spelling out Almaty or Gunnison.

I'm off to peruse my tbr list for the detour books :) That's a good pick, Mary. I've got And Only to Deceive on my tbr shelf too.
Feb 06, 2016 01:14PM

35559 Enjoy Danielle! It was really good, especially as Katie said for a short story. There're some interesting details for the later books ;) I hope there will be sequels.

35559 So glad for the weekend to catch up with my reading. Finished my book Magic Stars (Kate Daniels, #8.5, Grey Wolf, #1) by Ilona Andrews for our Bermuda stop. Can't wait for the next installment, still two books to go in the KD series. I hope for a lot of spin-offs afterwards ;p
Feb 03, 2016 09:24AM

35559 I'm currently reading Magic Stars (Kate Daniels, #8.5, Grey Wolf, #1) by Ilona Andrews which works voor M (title), A (Ilona Andrews) and D (Derek Gaunt - character).
Feb 01, 2016 08:04AM

35559 Finished Murder in a Mill Town (Gilded Age Mystery, #2) by P.B. Ryan by P.B. Ryan on 1 february - 4 stars.
The book is set in 19th century Boston and is written by an american author.
If I understood correctly, the page count in this challenge doesn't matter. I wonder if we can use novella's for this challenge.

@Mary: hope you get better soon!

35559 Katie wrote: "Gah...I love the Kate Daniels series!"
Me too! It was love at first read ;) Finished the book, looking foward to read Magic Stars next.

I understand Sophie, when that happens I wake up still holding my e-reader or finding it under my pillow.

35559 I'm good for reading a book that fits the task. I'm planning to read Murder in a Mill Town over the weekend, it's set in Boston, Massachusetts.
I'm currently finishing Magic Shifts by Ilona Andrews at the moment (but started it before the creation of the thread).
