35559 I'll get at least one I book in, not on the list yet. And I'm excited, the book I nominated is December's read so we should have DQs for that as well.
35559 Volunteering for Phil. I can't believe my book won, I'm looking forward to it!

Me and spreadsheets just dont agree....is it ok if I post in here and someone transfers to the spreadsheet for me?"

I can do that if it is too difficult for you. Just add all the info.

35559 I got DQs for the Left-handed booksellers! That will help with points. Good since I tend to read shorter books as well. Since everyone is reading so much, I may try to add a few longer ones.

I'm hoping to find a surprise book, but nothing is jumping out at me right now. I've been putting off my N.K. Jemison book. 2nd in a trilogy. The first was really good so I'm not sure why I've waited. It's longer too, so maybe I'll pick it up soon.
35559 That works for me!

35559 Quick update we are currently in forth place, about 550 points behind first and 900 ahead of last. Basically a tight race. Not sure if we can catch up. The first two teams have seriously high page points.

I hope we can, and can read some BOMs for extra points; however, having fun and reading things you like is so much more important.

The captains just need to know. I'm familiar with that book, too. You are good.

35559 Thanks everyone! We read the max# of books for our team (and we could have gone higher) plus we got all of the bonus points. So 2 more books than last time and higher page points.

My goal for the next round is to improve the BOM points. I'm taking one for the team and reading Dino Island and Tammie is reading the The Only Good Indians. Feel free to join us! I know there is a bit more interest in the next BOM, but I'm not sure which round that will end up in.

Thanks! I know that one, it is a favorite of my daughter so I had to read it too. I can find a swap.

That is nice. Can you add it to the spreadsheet and Tammie or I can figure out where to put it. Thanks!

35559 I'll finish Dunbar. I won't be able to squeeze in anything else.

35559 Ashlee, I moved things to fit House of Hollow (and messaged you). If we don't have enough books I'll also see if I can move things for your J book - although you can use the authors names.

35559 For additional points and amusement, the NBRC is opening up the Back Room and hosting a BOM starting 11/9. This isn't for everyone but the discussions are lively and always interesting (and respectful). I'm sure there will be some discussion about science involved for this to work. The book chosen is:
Dino Island The Lost Girls by J.R. Hogan

Note: this is a kindle only book. There is a free version for KU in the UK and there may be other options (listed in the thread in the Back Room)

For those of you not it the UK (me included), the clock is based on the UK clock, so you may want to check the counter:

Don't forget! the UK had a clock change during Round 2, so non-UK timezones will have different end times to Round 1!

I hate when real life impacts my reading (most of the time). Hope you do have a great weekend reading. I'm ready for it too, but I'm going to have to grade tests so not as much relaxing as I'd like.

35559 This round seems to have flown by for me! I should be able to fit 1 more book in. I'll take a look at what we need later.

Round 3 has been announced for those who are looking ahead! I think we did pretty good again for this round. Complete details can be found in the announcements.

Round 3
Spell it-out word: Snorkeling
Genre bonus (x10 books): Paranormal
Color bonus (x5 books): Any

35559 Hi team Phil! It has seemed a bit quite lately (or maybe it's just my imagination). Anyone read any good books they want to recommend? Hope all is well.

35559 I haven't read Year One, but I think the difference between the two is that Year One happens during the outbreak and Feed happens after they get to the new status quo. I'm loving the differences real life versus the book. In the book the CDC and WHO stepped up and became the unquestioned (and now unchecked) voices. In reality the CDC was a mess and everyone is questioning everything.

I'm glad our genre is humor. I love thriller and horror but I do need a break. It will be good for me.
35559 I nominate The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Aging and reclusive Hollywood movie icon Evelyn Hugo is finally ready to tell the truth about her glamorous and scandalous life. But when she chooses unknown magazine reporter Monique Grant for the job, no one is more astounded than Monique herself. Why her? Why now?

Monique is not exactly on top of the world. Her husband has left her, and her professional life is going nowhere. Regardless of why Evelyn has selected her to write her biography, Monique is determined to use this opportunity to jumpstart her career.

Summoned to Evelyn’s luxurious apartment, Monique listens in fascination as the actress tells her story. From making her way to Los Angeles in the 1950s to her decision to leave show business in the ‘80s, and, of course, the seven husbands along the way, Evelyn unspools a tale of ruthless ambition, unexpected friendship, and a great forbidden love. Monique begins to feel a very real connection to the legendary star, but as Evelyn’s story near its conclusion, it becomes clear that her life intersects with Monique’s own in tragic and irreversible ways.

35559 Rosina, did I see that you are reading Feed? I really liked it, I'm reading the 2nd. I read it pre-COVID, I wonder how it reads after. I definitely think about it with the 2nd.

Hope you enjoy!
