35559 I’m here! I’ll post more later, as I’m traveling for work. Looking forward to the challenge

Good to know. I've definitely been listening to books more lately but will stay away from this one.
35559 I'm not sure about this one, but willing to try. Signing up for DQs for Team Quilt

I felt this way at first, too. Don't worry. It's all about having fun - and balancing out the teams so it can be fun for all.
35559 I'm in for DQs. Team Quilt

It's a bit like this, except that instead of spelling out titles you have UNO hands. So, a Red One would be an O (character, title, etc) in a book with a Red Cover. Not all cards are color and there are mini challenges as well with different challenges.

It will be with Perks. The signups haven't started yet, but aren't far away!

35559 I just finished my last read. This went by so fast! It's been fun.

35559 Thank you for the page info! So glad we could get more points.

I just finished my zombie book that works for an S. I was planning on reading a short S book, but may try to find another I for you since those are more challenging. End of the semester really helped increase my reading!

35559 Louise, here you go: I Love You, Luke Piewalker

I have it on the spreadsheet as 160 pages, to be safe.

35559 Not sure how to handle pages for the book I just finished. I listened to the audiobook and when I search for it I only get the audio version. When you look at the details there are several other editions; however, the only one with page #s is the first one listed, but it is listed under a previously used title. So, do I use 160 pages for audio only or 318 for the original (and if so, can I still use the new title that is what I read).

If I had realized this I just would have skipped it. It definitely wasn't worth it. I hope we need the I.

On another note, I think I have to buy and read this: I Saw Zombies Eating Santa Claus A Breathers Christmas Carol by S.G. Browne

35559 No worries about slacking. I got my grades in for the semester and am winding down for the holidays.

35559 Ok, I picked up a short book with and O and M, I'll finish it quickly then find an I book or two.
Dec 14, 2022 05:41PM

35559 Ok, I need to pick my next book. What would be more helpful, a zombie book with an S, or a non-zombie book with an I or an O?

35559 Zombies in December? I read too many monsters for challenges in October/November. I'll read one but ugh. Not my favorite genre.

Here are a few suggestions for folks who aren't big zombie lovers:

My favorite is by Mira Grant (also writes fantasy under her real name). Feed. It takes place after the zombie outbreak has become the new norm and is more about the people and changes in the news/politics than the zombies themselves. I love her writing, she creates great characters.

I loved The Boy on the Bridge. The 'sequel' to The Girl with All the Gifts. I actually liked it more than the first and it can be read standalone; there are nods to the other but it runs in parallel and has a different, really interesting ending. Definitely more of a positive book.

For zombie romances: Warm Bodies. Recently made into a film so you can find lots about it.

I have a few interesting ones on my list that I might try as well.

I agree! But I understand why and why it isn't worth fighting for.

Fixed it. Humans has no tags, the Becky Chambers book below has 194.

Sorry! It's fixed. I'll finish my last book, probably tonight. Then I'll start reading for round 3. I have 2 books picked out already for the genre tag.

35559 Just finished mine. I'm pretty much done with other challenges, so I can do better with tags. For most challenges I've done, longer books are better for points; however, it seems like that doesn't matter here, especially since we don't have a book cut off. I can probably up my # of books with some shorter ones. Let me know if I'm wrong in my thinking.
