35559 Ha! I didn’t notice that about Harry ! I’ll post in a bit, Last Day of School here ...woohoo!!!! Time to wake the trolls ;)
35559 Finally got the audiobook from the library! a bit late but here I go...

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS SET 1
CHAPTERS 1-8

1. LILAC GIRLS IS MARTHA HALL KELLY'S DEBUT NOVEL TELLING THE TALE OF THREE WOMEN CAUGHT UP IN THE HORROR THAT WAS WWII. WHAT DO YOU THINK IS THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE TITLE?
~~~I have no idea, but I'm assuming it will be clear by the end of the book.
2. IN THE FIRST THREE CHAPTERS, WE ARE SEPARATELY INTRODUCED TO OUR THREE HEROINES, CAROLINE, KASIA AND HERTA. WHAT ARE YOUR FIRST IMPRESSIONS OF THE GIRLS AND THE PLACES AND TIMES THEY LIVE IN?
~Caroline seems to be living the high live, even for those days and times. Although at her age and not married does not seem to be typical. She is a likable girl, all about helping other people.
~Kasia- seems like she is destined to get herself in trouble. A bit naive yet good and true hearted. She is young, so I am guessing she will grow up quickly in her near future.
~Herta- She is the least likable to me, of course because she is German, but also because she is 100% towards "the cause". I'm hoping she will soon see the ways of Hitler and possibly help the enemy. She seems like quite a loner so I am thinking she might be a tough one to turn.
3. WHY DO YOU THINK THE AUTHOR HAS BEGUN THE NOVEL IN THREE DIFFERENT PLACES INSTEAD OF ALTERNATE POINTS OF VIEW WITHIN THE SAME CHAPTER?
It seems to be a trend to have different points of view. I think the different places are inevitable because the characters she chose live in different countries.
4. DO YOU THINK PIETRIK HAS ROMANTIC FEELINGS FOR KASIA AND WHAT DO YOU IMAGINE HAS HAPPENED TO NADIA AND HER MOTHER?
No, I think Pietrik loves Nadia. I'm guessing Nadia and her mother ran for it. Hopefully in a safe house out of the country.
5. DESPITE HERTA'S POLITICAL BELIEFS DO YOU FEEL ANY SYMPATHY FOR HER IN HER SITUATION WITH HEINZ?
No, she seems pretty cold hearted to me. I think she will move on quickly.
6. PAUL SEEMS TO BE THE EPITOME OF THE SAUVE, URBANE FRENCHMAN. DO YOU SEE ANY FUTURE FOR HIM AND CAROLINE?
I think Paul is using Caroline for her beauty and company. I'm sure he will break her heart.
7 ALREADY I AM FINDING MY EMOTIONS ENGAGED BY THIS NOVEL. SADNESS, ANGER, INDIGNATION AND HORROR FOR WHAT I KNOW IS TO COME. HOW IS THIS BOOK AFFECTING YOU SO FAR?
After reading several WWII books I am really curious of the different points of view for each country. I'm very afraid for Kasia. I think Caroline will continue to help but will have her heart broken. And Herta, I'm hoping will become a good guy and learn the evil ways of the Hitler.
It's a slow read, but I think it needs the character development.
A Most Scandalous Proposal by Ashlyn Macnamara The Marrying Season (Legend of St. Dwynwen, #3) by Candace Camp Your Wicked Heart (Rules for the Reckless, #0.5) by Meredith Duran"
I would think any of those would work because they're all seat/lying down opposite of the other book.
35559 Maybe we can post a summary of the current books we are looking for or in need of? I can try to do that.
We have just been chatting on the thread, which provoked me to search for the color books. If someone finds a book for a tough task, we can “announce” it here and then place it on the spreadsheet . Just kind of touch base before starting a book to make sure your now wasting your time ;)
35559 Update from the Mods:
Charms class:
To clarify.... the pairs need to be Title + Title OR cover + cover.
That is, you can't use a Title + Cover for a pair.
