35559 From what I understand, each person gets 2 opportunities to change out a customer per BOM. So it could be useful if we end up with some that are more difficult for us.

In regards to the length of books, some of the ones I have ready are over 500 pages, but I will be trying to do a good mixture of lengths of books.

35559 I'm not sure how much you guys participate in BOMs, but during team challenges I do my best to participate (and I'm trying to get better at taking part in them outside of challenges). I just looked up the September ones and both are available on my local library app, so I will definitely get those read.

◈ Re-Read a Favourite

35559 I don't really have a strategy, especially since my first few weeks of the challenge will just be reading whatever I have access too. I'm just hoping people like to eat in the books I'll be reading. I can try and help with more specific things after my internet blackout.

And I agree that another spreadsheet might be useful, but like Heather I haven't had a really good look at the main spreadsheet yet.

35559 Thank you both. The new house is currently empty. A builder is in doing some work and we've been able to take a lot of stuff there already. So hopefully the final bit won't be too bad. The worst bit is going to be living without things we are used to now, like internet, for a bit.
Aug 22, 2022 09:11AM

35559 Thank you, it's not really mine, it's my parents' but I currently live with them so I have no choice but to move too :p
Aug 21, 2022 12:40PM

35559 Yay! Our thread it up!
For a team name, I have suggested The Lovely Scones (a play on The Lovely Bones books in case any of you haven't heard of it before). But I am happy to go with whatever name everyone else likes.

I have a bit of news. I am moving on the 31st (actually in the process of moving stuff now, but we have to be out on the 31st). I sorted out the internet and everything the other day, but they said they can't come and connect everything until the 14th September. So I will be without internet for the first two weeks of the challenge. That said, I do have mobile data so I will probably check the app through my phone at least once a day, but it is unlikely I will be able to help with specific things during that time and I don't think I'll be able to update the spreadsheet.

I'm in the process of downloading as many audiobooks as my Ipad will allow and I have so many ebooks downloaded already so I will be reading during that time. There is a lot of work to do on the house so I will be busy most of the time, but I should have the evenings to relax and read.

We only got the final moving date early last week and it was sooner than we were hoping so this past week has been hectic and I suspect this coming week will be much the same, if not more hectic. So I thought I would throw this information out there while I have a bit of time to actually sit down.

I am excited about this challenge though, even if I'm still a bit unsure about all the details. I'm sure it will all make sense once we start.

35559 I think the monsters one was my favourite. It was fun finding books that worked for multiple tasks to beat one monster.

I live for full on challenges as they not only help me read more, but help me read books I might not read otherwise or would just sit on my TBR for many years.

35559 I finished my last book, The Duke and I so if someone could put the date on the spreadsheet for me and it's not looking like I'll be able to access it until later.

35559 I read Pollyanna recently, I can't remember the exact date but it was within this challenge. But last time I check we had all those filled out.

35559 I'm sure they are better than what I would have come up with.

I will finish my final book tomorrow. The challenge ends in the evening for me, so I will have time to finish it in the day.

35559 I guess I better read over the rules again.

In regards to this challenge, I finished White Fang earlier. I'll update the spreadsheet later when I get on my laptop. I'm on track to finish the last two I have listed. I dont think I'm going to manage any more than that before the deadline. Maybe one more short one, but I'll finish the others first.

Aug 13, 2022 06:57AM

35559 Would you accept me on your team, Melissa, even if I don't meet around 13 books a month? I would do my best of course, I have plenty of shorter books I've been putting off because of challenges like this wanting longer books so I can try and keep on track with those, but as I explained life might get in the way.
I understand if you would prefer someone who is in a better position to commit to the amount of books.

35559 Oh there is so much temptation to join! I decided not to join as I'll be moving (probably beginning of September now) and there will be a lot to do at the new house and I'll have to try and find a job so I don't want to commit to something and then life gets in the way...
But team challenges help me read more...
Oh, the temptation!

Aug 12, 2022 05:34PM

35559 Yes, it's all on the spreadsheet. I also went through and made a few changes so that ones that could fit in the story better were still free.
I promise I'll stop meddling now. I should to go to sleep anyway.

35559 I think a lot of us have been confused the the setting of the ball one. Personally, I've been confused about if the settings have to match or if they could just look like they could hold a ball.

35559 I just went through and added them to the mini and we have enough!
It does mean that a lot of ones that could have been used in the stories were used though.
