35559 Easy to believe! Once you add in stops for rest and safety - time just flies. A few years ago, it took us about 4 and half hours to get from Folkestone to North Walsham - that’s an hour more than Google Maps would have it. Beautiful winding roads mind you - worth the time - but jam packed with the evening commute by the time we got to Norfolk.

Re challenge, yes I’m still planning on reading The Violin Conspiracy - it’s on its way 🤞. We could use one token for each of those two BOMs or use them all for one or the other, or for the upcoming fourth BOM. I don’t know who else is planning on volunteering for which BOM or if anyone else has extra entries. Would be great to work out what seems best for us as a team and use them accordingly.

35559 Lol. I get interrupted too! 🤷‍♀️😅

In for DQs, can add extra entry if necessary 🙂. Can’t wait for this one!
35559 @Jenny, and it came out *just* before wheels 🤦‍♀️. Just wondering, as I’d never read him before and it sounds like you’re a big fan: are all his books written with the same kind of humour? Any recs on which others by him to read welcome 🙂 (please don’t say « all of them » 😁).
35559 Volunteering for Team Country too.

35559 Thrilled we did more than we’d pledged in round 1 -
way to go! 😎

35559 Yay! That was quick Sammy 👏🥳

Wow, can’t imagine reading 100 books a year - or 500 - with kids! That’s awesome! 🤩

35559 Lol, yes and we'll make it (though must say Heavy Metal seem to have crushed this round!).

Go team :-)

35559 Okay, I’ll finish it today - I have a bad cas of expat I think - hearing lots of languages but only knowing a fraction of them 😅. I love languages so much though 😌.

Just thought: we can use Harry Potter for Voldemort - AND the chamber of secrets has a green cover too :)

35559 I’m ~20 pages away from finishing Starter Villain and have put it on hold. I’ve rather enjoyed the ride and have reached the final bend. Looking forward to knowing what will happen next!

I’ll be back around 4pm UK time and can finish today or tomorrow - let me know which is best ☺️.

35559 Am I the only one whose brain keeps tricking them into reading titles with varying accents / letter inversions to fit these letters (from hell, let's be honest)?

You know...
Ze Vitches by Rowald Dahl,
'Um if ya don' know the words, mate! by Bianca from the Vic (wha' you lookin' a'?)
And so my day goes on... goofy brain - who would have guessed the vuvuzela could be so tiring 😁!

35559 Wow team - 9 out of 10 cities already - way to go for Round 2! :)

I have a bit of a dilemma here: I could finish Starter Villain for this round BUT I'm not sure it makes sense. I've got at least one A character that will fit the instrument (of torture 😁) we have been assigned for Round 2. I'm assuming we can't bank finished books, so let me know if I need to wait until Sunday morning to finish it so it doesn't get lost as I'm a slow enough reader as it is! 😅

Happy reading everyone.

35559 You’re right. Those letters are really tricky!!

I’ll switch to A Bad Day for Sunshine (Vicram) if we have enough greens - no sign of any of those letters in Hum…

Lol, not sure I like this instrument all of a sudden! 😅

35559 Oh soz, you said 50% - not sure I can claim Johannesburg, I’ll only know once I’ve read the book! :)

35559 Yay!!! Can’t wait - I’ll be reading Hum if you don’t know the words which is green and is (partly) set in Johannesburg.

Re location - does it have to be the primary location or any location in the book?

35559 Okay. I’ll push through on Starter Vilain in the next 3 days. Just so you know, it can also work for M - so if it’s easier to find an S, we can switch.

35559 AFAIK, this is the sheet where the mods track our BOM participations:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...

I’ll use my two extras for the challenge - can’t wait for November BOMs to kick off. I hope the haunted house one is interesting for the horror fans!
35559 Yup, 💯 Melissa!
