@Suzanne, I was thinking about the questions -
It’s chapters 9 through 11 and there’s lots to ask
- I’ll write a few as I go along (and keep them to myself for the moment naturally).

@Kerri, just a fair warning, I think voting is still in progress for the July BOM and results haven’t been confirmed yet though certainly the captains will be able to confirm this before you get hold of a copy.

It just looked so much like Fourth Wing was going to win this morning that I started preparing my order and realised - with some dismay - that the English paperback version was out of stock in most bookstores here in Belgium. Apologies this thread has now taken on a bit of a life of its own!

Has anybody else started on 11.22.63? I’m finding it a slow burn but also quite intriguing. Would love everybody else’s thoughts when the Doorstopper Club kicks off.

Aaw thanks Nanci. I got in search frenzy after posting and have managed to get a copy by changing Amazon sites🤞. Waterstones in Brussels are out of stock, not to mention most other bookstores - it’s obvs selling fast!

Thank you Lisa for hiding the May books, the sheet was getting a little crowded 🙂 - just because the team has read so many books! Can’t believe 311 books last month 👏.

Thanks Nanci - it has great reviews but I do know it won’t be my easiest read of the year. Knowing you enjoyed it makes me want to read it all the more mind you.

Bit disappointed about next months BOM - Fourth Wing - it’s out of stock everywhere, not sure I’ll be able to get it in time being the old-fashioned physical book reader that I am… the paperback is going on Amazon (the only place I could still find a copy) for 19€ + 14€ postage - outrageous, am I right?!

I do wonder about the 30 a week aim. I would have thought there would be a July challenge, in which case, we should go through these twice as fast or expect a hectic July. Just thinking out loud that the chipmunk challenge may not be the last?

Just wondering how fast we want/need to move on the Chipmunk challenge. I’d be happy to read The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison for task 13 but wouldn’t be starting before end of next week I expect.

Would anyone else like to cover that prompt and/or can we afford to wait? I know we have lots of really fast readers on the team (go guys!) and I’m not one of them - I’d be more than happy to cover later prompts once I’ve finished my doorstopper esp. if someone else feels like reading a book written by a Nobel prize winner.

@Vi, it's on my "considering" list but holding off starting a series right now - I seem to have a few going. Sounds like a good one for the chipmunk task - what do the captains think?

Just finished a Chipmunk task, does that open the next one?
If we need a series with an X in it for the chipmunks, I have on my shelf (I just need to go through the librarians to get the alternate cover I have).

Thinking of reading 11.22.63 now and then giving the chipmunks full attention - don't know how everyone else is planning this month's reading. I'd rather get the doorstopper out of the way or DNF? (hopefully not though!).

I’ve just read the blurb and your review - it does sound really good (but sad?). I voted for All the things… because I’ve been meaning to read for ages. I like both themes for July so might be reading both BOMs (if I manage to stay awake that is 🤭) - let’s see what the polls say.

I’m reading for June and am already running late on my first planned book - I don’t know what’s got into me, I just fall asleep, and this despite reading a thrilling book lol! I obviously have some sleeping to catch up on!

I’ve never been on a leading team in TT either - but we were great at UNO this year, and were way off the top at the end. BOM points clearly help in TT - and then there’s the Chipmunk challenge which will be fun!
