I have a non-fiction I want to read for Zesus but feel free to read yours if you would like. It is a fun book.
Truitt_T wrote: "And I forgot to say this earlier, Lexi - I hope your research has gone well and that your trip is safe and uneventful."Thank you and I'm hoping our trip home goes smoothly as well. I should have reading time in the airport, and I have been told the Dakar airport has wifi so fingers crossed.
He's back but at least we already have a lightning book:Typhon

Typhon aka the Father of Monsters has been spotted on your lands. Very hard to kill and not known for showing mercy.
To vanquish this monster you must:
1.) Read a book between 500 and 650 pages (inclusive).
2.) Read a book that mentions a volcano
3.) Read a book with lightning on the cover
4.) Read a book where the title contains all the letters in ZEUS
5.) Read a book where a MC is a father
Key to Rebecca has been used for the last Eqypt book needed. (Judith appears to really like Egypt for this mini). However, Judith's book works for 4 of the 5 so we can just wait on hers to be done. (It has a lioness too).
Truitt, that sounds great, and Judith and I plan to grab one of our non-Monster books for battleship so no need to read specifically for it yet.
Update and then I need to go clean things to fly back to the US tomorrow:We need
1. Read a book with MPG Epic Fantasy
2. Read a book that is #3 in a series.
3. Read a book that is #6 in a series.
4. Read a book that features a bird (bird shifter accepted)
(3-4 can be the same book)
Stymphalian Birds
Stymphalian Birds have been seen filling your orchards and causing delays in harvesting. They are hard to defeat because of their numbers. Music can soothe the savage beasts, may want to try metal bands.
To vanquish this monster you must:
1.) Read a book between 350 and 450 pages (inclusive).
2.) Read a book that is #6 in a series.
3.) Read a book with a musical instrument mentioned in the text.
4.) Read a book with something metal on the cover.
5.) Read a book that features a bird (bird shifter accepted).
My epic fantasy book has a riddle and a brown cover so I moved it over to cover the rest of Sphinx so we need a MPG Epic Fantasy for the dragon
Still not a new one:Sphinx

The Greek Sphinx has been spotted on your lands and befuddling your citizens left and right. Requires some planning and moderate effort to defeat, send your smartest warriors and for the love of all the gods, don't confuse her with her good-for-nothing Egyptian cousin.
To vanquish this monster you must:
1.) Read a book between 200 and 299 pages (inclusive).
2.) Read a book where the characters go on a journey.
3.) Read a book where the MC must solve a riddle.
4.) Read a book with a mountain on cover.
5.) Read a book with a brown cover (at least 50%).
Third is usually an easy one so I might wait to see if someone else grabs it with a longer book but good to have a backup plan
Truitt, I have epic covered and have a yellow instrument if you want to see what we get nextEdited: This one -
Also, for anyone, we still need a 3rd in series
Somehow we got a third one so here we go:Colchian Dragon

Colchian Dragon has been seen on your lands, searching for a new and improved golden fleece. Maybe a platinum one? He's not the strongest monster around but still takes some effort to put down. Likes music and is distracted from finishing his tasks.
To vanquish this monster you must:
1.) Read a book between 200 and 299 pages (inclusive).
2.) Read a book from an unfinished series.
3.) Read a book with a musical instrument on the cover.
4.) Read a book with MPG Epic Fantasy.
5.) Read a book with a yellow cover (at least 50%).
Right now we need:Read a book with a musical instrument on the cover
and
Read a book that is #3 in series
Things keep changing even since Judith wrote the update
I keep hoping for a new one:Cerberus

Cerberus has decided to take a jaunty run through your lands before returning to the underworld. He's very hard to defeat, don't let those 6 puppy dog eyes fool you. May want to bring some milk bones and tennis balls.
To vanquish this monster you must:
1.) Read a book between 500 and 650 pages (inclusive).
2.) Read a book where a funerary celebration/service takes place.
3.) Read a book with MPG Music.
4.) Read a book with a musical instrument on the cover.
5.) Read a book that is #3 in a series.
Nemean Lion
Nemean Lion has been seen lounging in the sun on your land after feasting on man. He's hard to defeat, don't underestimate him because he sleeps more than he's awake. Also, don't send Kate Daniels, "here kitty kitty kitty" probably won't turn out as well for her this time.
To vanquish this monster you must:
1.) Read a book between 350 and 450 pages (inclusive).
2.) Read a book that takes place in Africa.
3.) Read a book where both hands (of one person) are visible on the cover.
4.) Read a book with an open plain landscape on the cover.
5.) Read a book that features a cat (cat shifter accepted).

DQs Day 27. The Haunted Flat -> 13. Enter the Hero
6.) Berlioz kept having things disappear from his apartment. What would you of thought if stuff was randomly disappearing from your home? Blame it on the kids? Partner? Ghost? Thief? Do you think it's supposed to represent Stalin's infamous purges where people simply disappear?
Cats, everything disappearing in my house is the cats’ fault. I have found my keys in the most random places. I already have a tendency to leave my phone in random places around the house to be fair. Also, yes, quite likely since there is little sense or warning.
7.) What do you think of Woland's posse of 3? Would you want to be a part of that group? Of the 3, do you have a favorite character?
Cats seem to be the answer to all the questions today. I like the cat best but I am sure I am missing much of the symbolism on each character.
8.) Thoughts on Stavinsky? Would you want him treating a family member? Considering this is the 1930's and it's a mental asylum, was it what you'd expect? Or more modern?
For 1930’s not bad but clearly of the school that doctor knows best and a healthy dose of paternalism, which you will still find today.
9.) This section made me think about the housing/apartment situation in Stalin's Soviet Union. Maybe because I recently moved house, it made me grateful for the choices I have available about my living situation. Did this resonate at all with you? How so?
Housing is always a mess and I am still in the rental stage and often last minute so very few options.
10.) I still have like no idea what's going on really. I feel like I'm just going to keep reading and hope it either starts making sense or the book ends. How are you enjoying the book so far?
I was lost the first time I read it and it seems to be worse this time as I am dipping in and out with other books and more busy work. Hopefully, it will get better.
