This was such a sweet read with a beautiful HEA ending... I didn't want it to end. It was funny, romantic, and even had some action. There were sweet intimate moments without going to detail about the sex (although it was implied that there was a good amount of it going on...) that totally melted me into puddles of gooey mush... Being a Brooklyn girl myself, it was cool to see a fellow Brooklyn girl find her happy ending in an extremely unorthodox way. I absolutely loved it.
The characters were very well written and quite realistic despite the fact that they weren't human. The problems they faced were presented and solved in a totally believable way that brought smile after smile to my face. I love the idea of a Halloween themed town inhabited by supernatural beings... complete with a nightclub and a Thai restaurant.
I would definitely recommend this book to any of my fellow HEA lovers, and I will be adding the remaining books in the Nocturne Falls series to my ever-growing to-read list.

So... Sherrilyn Kenyon... Now officially on my go-to authors list. Her writing style is superb and had me hooked from her introduction of Kyrian. (I hadn't even met Amanda yet, and I was already jealous of her... smh)
I started reading at work and (though I'm no stranger to romance or erotica) I had to thank my lucky stars for my dark skin. She had me blushing SO HARD!! (And wishing someone fitting his description was sitting next to me!) There were even points where I actually had to stop reading to calm myself down! Oh Sherrilyn... you have such a way with words... and they weren't even vulgar!!!
Now I've read many, many vampire books over time, but this one was surprisingly different. I really like this take on the vamp romance genre with all the different types of vampires. I also like that they fall into bad and good (debatable) categories, with the good guys only being able to fight the bad guys according to heir abilities. What I don't like (and like Amanda likes to say is so unfair) is the fact that the good guys can't team up and join powers. However, I totally understand why they can't. (It makes perfect sense... I promise lol) And I also love, love, LOVE an HEA (happily ever after for those who don't know) ending.
This was an awesome start to what I hope will be an awesome series by a totally awesome author. Looking forward to the hi-jinks of book 2!

Oh book 3... This one was something else... So much deeper than the first two books... So much more emotion...
In this one, we see Georgina and Seth in very vulnerable emotionally raw states. I almost didn't make it through the whole book. I actually had to stop reading for a few days to get back to a mental and emotional mindset where I could finish. Despite the upheaval caused by this book, I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was funny, erotic, and jam packed with mystery. We also meet new characters who make the story so much more interesting:
There's Tawny: the buxom dimwitted succubus who couldn't seem to catch a man if he threw himself at her for some reason
There's Niphon: Ok, so he isn't so new since he's the imp who bought Georgina's soul once upon a long time ago, but this aggravating son of a biscuit can't seem to leave her alone (even after finishing, I still don't know why)
There's Dante: who carries a big secret, but would love nothing more than to lose himself in Georgina's pants (him being hot is besides the point)
There's Vincent, Yasmine, & Joel: let's just call these friends of Carter's (kinda sorta) the Angel Squad.
And last but not least (since she plays a pretty big part), there's Maddie: Doug's sister who has THE biggest crush on Seth...
The drama and mystery really left me scratching my head though. I'm usually pretty good at figuring out what's going on before it's revealed, but this time I couldn't for the life of me figure this one out. So when the culprit behind Georgina's missing energy was finally revealed, I was very much surprised. Plus, the mixing of the different cultures (not to mention the flashbacks to Georgina's past) make for a very interesting read.
I found myself literally laughing out loud and getting thoroughly pissed right along with Georgina (thanks to Richelle Mead's AMAZEBALLS descriptive writing). She just knows how to drag me into her stories... I just can't seem to escape... But then again, I don't think I want to... :)

My classes have started again so my reading will slow down again... plus I'm heading back East to NYC for Thanksgiving (and my b'day) so I'm prepping for that, but I'll try to catch up. I'll have my UF review posted later, but here are my picks for the shelves I've missed:

Georgina once again manages to wrap me around her little finger. In this book we dive a bit deeper into her relationship with Seth and learn a bit more about her past. We learn just how far she would go to protect her friends and meet someone from her past, and we get a tiny glimpse into another religion.
Like the first book, the plot flowed very smoothly. Richelle manages to transport you into her story and makes you feel for Georgina. At one point, she had me WISHING I was in her shoes! Her little gang of friends are still as dysfunctional as ever, but of course they still have her back. And Seth (I don't know how he does it) shows that he's got a wealth of self-control (what's that?) when it comes to sexy-time... I applaud him.
Anyway... On to book 3!!! Looking forward to seeing what exactly is up with those dreams...

This was an interesting read. The plot was quite entertaining. However the writing is a bit stiff. I'm willing to chalk it up to the fact that this was the first book, and possibly the first book by this author. Therefore, I won't harp on that aspect of this book. I actually enjoyed reading this story. It was sweet, a bit romantic, and full of mystery. It served as a very nice introduction to the rest of the series.
The characters are nicely described and their personalities really come through. Melinda Howard blames herself for her parents' death and this defines the person that she is at the opening of the story. She has a bit of a way to go to completely overcome it, but by the end of this book, she is well on her way. Her love interest is a vampire who can't seem to figure out how he should behave around her, but is he the only one?? Her brothers Charlie and Michael are at odds with each other, but end up reconciling. How? Well you'll have to read to find out! Believe me, it's the best part of the book! I'll definitely be reading the rest of this series.

Ok. So first off, let it be known that I am COMPLETELY HOOKED on this series after just one book. I have officially added myself to Richelle Mead's fan list.
This book had some of everything it seemed. Romance, action, mystery, erotica (just a bit), comedy... And even though this is clearly paranormal (with Georgina being a centuries old succubus and all), the entire story was written in a way that made everything seem real. Georgina drew me right in (who knew succubus powers worked through digital words too!). She had me sticking up for her, hurting along with her, puzzling out the mystery with her, aching for the guys in her life with her, sympathizing with her...
Georgina treated her friends like family. She struck me as being the "mama" of the group. Something I could relate to since I'm the one my friends tend to turn to for advice, and the one always worried and nagging them to be safe lol. The other characters were just as well written and had me liking and/or seriously disliking them depending on who they were. The twist wasn't a huge surprise since I was following the mystery rather closely, but it was very satisfying to find out I was right :)
Overall... AWESOME read! I will most definitely be reading the next book in this series, and plan to do so in the very near future. (And I mean in the next few days...)
