33903 Dead Until Dark (Sookie Stackhouse, #1) by Charlaine Harris

Shelf: Guilty Pleasures
Finished: 4-8-16
Rating: 5/5

I really must thank whoever decided it was good idea to turn these books into an HBO Original. It brought the ENTIRE story to vivid life, from Sookie's voice right down to the subtle nuances of Vampire Bill's so expressive (not) face.

Just like that first season of True Blood, this book was excellent. Filled with action, tension, some sex that was just enough to heat up the story without overpowering it, and jam packed with mystery from start to finish, I had to take it a bit slower than usual and really savor it. I also bought the 3 books I was missing from this series so that I wouldn't have to wait to enjoy them all (lol). It was that good.

The world building and the characters were totally on point. I felt like I was there watching the events unfold (I'm sure the show had quite a bit to do with that). I'm hoping the show followed the books closely because I'm excited to read about Tara, the scrum-diddly-umptious Eggs (the things I'd do to Mechad Brooks...smh... We could write our own erotic novel), and my fave character, the colorful Lafayette.

33903 Lol! So true Rocki! I'm rooting for Logan here too. I don't like the fact that Rick thinks he could just pick up where they left off and expects her to be ok with it smh...
And hooray for best friends! Lol

33903 The Ghost and the Graveyard (Knight Games, #1) by Genevieve Jack

Shelf: Ghosts
Finished: 3-31-16
Rating: 4.5/5

First off, I really enjoyed this one. It was funny, hot, suspenseful, and still had room for some romance and action. I would have been very upset when it ended if there weren't three more books in the series and a spin-off (happy dance)

At first it was hard to tell who the bad guys were, but as the story progressed it became quite clear (although I do think there will be some team changing coming down the line).

One thing that kept running through my mind the entire time was what person in their right mind would do what Grateful did to land where she did. I mean first moving into a house on the edge of a cemetery?? (Sounds like asking for trouble.) Then staying in said house after the whole wine switching incident and meeting the resident ghosts that had you running from the house screaming bloody murder?? (You're really asking for it aren't you...) AND THEN when you see the mess (and I don't mean an actual mess) in your neighbor's house that has you passing clean out on his steps you still stay??? (Alright! You totally asked for it!!) Not to mention how she came to be in that house in the first place... Smh...

All this made for a very interesting read nevertheless (especially those sex scenes even though they were a little confusing at times... including that one part that reminded me of that scene in Scary Movie 2). I mean after all that, who wouldn't want to see what happens to her?? I'll most definitely be reading the next book in this series.

33903 She was really starting to rub me the wrong way!! I was almost happy when she got what she wanted, but sad at the same time for Baird.

No worries about your review writing here Heather. I wouldn't say I'm good at writing reviews. I just write how I feel :)

33903 Claimed (Brides of the Kindred, #1) by Evangeline Anderson

Shelf: Aliens
Rating: 4.5/5
Finished: 3.26.16

So first of all, where can I find a guy like the Kindred??? It would be so amazing to find a man who is COMPLETELY devoted to his woman and her happiness (both in and out of the bedroom)... *le sigh* Wishful thinking... I know...

Anyway, as you can tell this book really had me wishing it was real... even though the Scourge aren't anything to laugh at. It was so well written with excellent world building that made it so it was almost like watching a movie. The characters were nicely fleshed out and easy to envision.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and actually purchased the second in this 17 BOOK series as soon as I finished it. (I don't think I can explain just how excited I got when I saw that there 16 more books to read, but my fellow book lovers will understand.) I just have to know what happens next after that epilogue. I swear it felt like watching past the credits of a Marvel movie.

The only thing I didn't like was how long it took Olivia to realize how she felt about Baird. I don't know how many times I said I'd happily take him off her hands if she wanted out so much.. Smh... Baird is one patient guy to put up with her shenanigans. Still, if she hadn't resisted so hard, I guess the story wouldn't have been as good so only 1/2 a star deduction for that (I rounded up on my post.)

Overall, an excellent start to the series. I highly recommend this one to anyone who didn't think aliens could be so downright delicious!

HAPPY READING!! :)

33903 Dirty Sexy Furry by Eliza Gayle

Shelf: Free Space
Rating: 4/5
Finished: 3.23.16

This book was more action than romance, but still managed to be pretty steamy. A few times I actually found myself wishing I was in Kira's shoes... Or spot on the bed... Or in her place against the tree... (smiles dreamily to self...)

Speaking of Kira... She was just awesome. She's strong, feisty, and fiercely independent... Just the kind of girl Lucas needed. Oh and she's also pretty good at being a submissive. (I find myself reading more and more books featuring the BDSM lifestyle these days. I'm not sure if it's just the new trend or if it's just me being kinky... If it's the former, I'm definitely not complaining ;) )

Overall, I really liked this book, but deducted a star since it went from the characters not really knowing how they felt about each other (other than sexually) to them all of a sudden madly in love with each other. I understand that they aren't human, but I still think a bit more build-up would have been better. I loved all the action and the back-and-forth between Kira and Lucas (which earned it all 4 stars). The hot sex and Dom/sub roles were just icing on the cake.

I will most definitely be reading the next book I the series. I'm a bit eager to find out what happens between Lucas' brother Kane and a certain someone... (No spoilers here!)
