33903 The Darkest Kiss (Lords of the Underworld #2) by Gena Showalter

Shelf: Hunter
Finished: 5-07-16
Rating: 5/5 stars (of course!)

I thought the first book was awesome... Well book 2 is even more so! From the first paragraph, you're thrust into it. Things pick up a few after book 1 ends, so not too much has passed.

Just as with the first book, there's loads of action, but in different locales this time. We get to see how Death meets his match, and the whole Aeron vs. Danika's family thing continues. I really want to see how that ends. We also meet the ring leader of the Titans and get a better idea of what he wants.

Suffice it to say that book 3 will be firmly in my grasp within the next few... Scratch that. NOW!! Along with .5, 3.5 and 4.5 lol
What can I say?? Gena Showalter has another fan!

33903 Hunted (Brides of the Kindred, #2) by Evangeline Anderson

Shelf: Sci-if Romance
Finished: 4-30-16
Rating: 5/5 stars

Evangeline Anderson has done it again!! I loved her first book Claimed, and this second book in the Brides of the Kindred series is another hit! I could barely put it down!

This book deals with the rather touchy subject of rape and the long-lasting effects it can have on the victim. Ms Anderson handles the subject rather well and shows that even someone who has been through such a terrible ordeal can overcome the pain and find love with the right person. Even if that person isn't human and sports 2 pairs of fangs!

The world building in this one was FANTABULOUS as we were treated to Sylvan's frozen planet of Tranq Prime. It was quite easy to imagine the beautiful grottos the planets inhabitants live in, as well as the fatally cold surface of the planet.

There wasn't much sex in this one, but with Sophia being as traumatized as she is, it is perfectly understandable. There was a lot of sweet romance however, and TONS of sexual tension. I was so happy when everything came together. At the same time, the stage was more than set for book 3 which looks like it's going to just as amazballs as the first two.

It's safe to say Evangeline Anderson has found herself a new fan.

33903 The Darkest Night (Lords of the Underworld #1) by Gena Showalter

Shelf: Urban Fantasy
Finished: 4-22-16
Rating: 4/5

I just love when the first book of a series just sucks you in. Don't you? This is one such story. Just reading about the tormented men who make up the Lords of the Underworld made me want to find out about all of them finding their happy ending after making such a grievous mistake of opening Pandora's box.

This story held my attention from beginning to the end and left me salivating for more. The only thing I didn't like was the weird choppy way Maddox and Ashlyn spoke during sex. I understand it gets pretty intense sometimes and the words just don't seem to come out right, but it was just so... weird to me. Otherwise this was such a great read with plenty of action, romance, and of course steamy bits (lol gotta love those steamy bits).

I especially like this version of Pandora's Box, and what happened after the evils escaped the box. I will most definitely be continuing this series. I've already bought book 2 (lol).

33903 Playing for Keeps (Neighbor from Hell, #1) by R.L. Mathewson

Shelf: Strong heroine
Finished: 4-14-16
Rating: 5/5

OMG!!! I don't think 5 stars are good enough for this book! I had such a good time reading this one I actually bought the remaining books in the series as soon as I finished the sneak peek for the second one. No joke. It's that good.

I loved how Haley started out as such a quiet, introverted woman but because of Jason, she was able to emerge from her shell and show the world what an outspoken woman she was on the inside. It was amazing to watch her transformation. It also helped LOADS that she's a Yankee fan like me (lol)
Jason was hilarious too. He was the absolute WORST neighbor! He was the total opposite of Haley, but then again opposites do attract. It also helped that he's also a Yankee fan (how awesome is that!) I loved the fact that him being around Haley so much made him change his womanizing ways and turned him in to the perfect book boyfriend (even though he had me rolling my eyes throughout the book). He makes me wish I could meet someone like him... Minus the awful neighbor part anyway. (lol)

It was so easy to become immersed in the story. It was like being a fly on the wall... I felt so deeply for both Haley and Jason. I hope the rest of the series is just as good (or better than) this one, and from that little sneak peek of book 2, I feel like they will be.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS ONE!! I guarantee you won't regret it!
