3113 I find that hard to believe Smartiegranniepanties. Models run from quizzes.

3113 << However, I am curious about the statement "gravity is not instantaneous." Is it not in fact that our observation of gravity (because of the delay of light) that makes it appear that gravity is not instantaneous? >>

Nothing can travel faster (in Einstein’s theory of relativity) then light, so gravity can not act on an object instantaneously.

3113 Cyril Msg# 24: I don’t know if this was meant to call my knowledge of the subject matter into question or not but I have had nagging sensations since yesterday. So this is a full explanation of Gravity…

Newton correctly calculated the “force” of gravity. According to Newton gravity acts consistently and always on an object. That when in space everything moves in a straight line until gravity pulls it into an elliptical orbit.

Newton’s theory correctly predicts how objects fall and move through space; but he doesn’t calculate the delay of light. So things were always out of kilter by about 500 seconds. This stumped scientist of the time because they couldn’t understand why every thing matched up “almost”. It wasn’t until 200 years later that the “light” bulb went on. We only appear to see things in space “now” What were actually seeing is where it “was” 500 seconds ago. When we look at the sun we don’t see it as it is, we see it as it was. Gravity is not instantaneous!

Einstein corrected Newton’s flawed theory by removing the idea that gravity is a “force” that acts through out space. Einstein explains gravity as being embedded in the cosmos. Gravity isn’t a force at all, it is a curvature of space time, and objects must follow that curve. Gravity doesn’t effect mass or energy on earth directly. The space around the mass/energy is “warped” first and then (the object/energy) follows the curvature.

So Earth moves in a straight line. The sun causes a curve in space time (bowling ball on the sheet) and the earth (tennis ball) follows the curve into an elliptical orbit around the sun. Force pulling the earth away from the sun, the curvature pulling toward the sun. Hence the wobble.

Einstein’s theory only works however if light is also bent by the curvature. This was proven to also be correct in 1919 during an eclipse. The suns “rays” were deflected just as Einstein insisted they would be.

3113 I am still waiting for a detailed after action review from you on this issue Hayley...

Additionally, I think you should only reward yourself with a man when you successfully negotiate your driving test. If you are unable to safely operate a car, how do you suppose you will be able to operate a man? Were finicky creatures that require a skillful hand to master.

3113 Ewe! I like story time!

3113 Varmint I think She may have multiple personalities so I don't really see it as 10/1 ratio, more like 10/13.5.
Aug 24, 2008 06:10PM

3113 I will keep that in mind.

3113 I concur

Come on that is too a sex dig!

3113 pissy pottery... heheheh

Yeah, typo typo blah blah. Perhaps I should start proof reading before I post. I miss spell enough without adding in typo's

3113 Remember to take them untill they are all gone... You don't want an antibiotic resistant moral conundrum on your hands... those never ever go away.

3113 That bowling ball explanation was pretty close to accurate, I left allot out, but that was to keep it disjointed.

3113 Sorry dave, I was never really into Star trek. I will add Larry Niven to the double quick buy list, Donna promise.

3113 You better keep an eye on that Montambo. Those can get serious.

3113 I think by the time teleportation is available for mass transportation there will be no need for the TSA.

Either that or millions of weapons will go missing. In a blink of the eye explosions would just appear out of nowhere. This is possible because of the mode of transportation used.

Teleportation works on the quantum level: For every atom there is a parallel opposite atom. This is where things get screwy. The distance between an atom and its opposite atom (self) is infinite. It doesn’t matter if the distance is an inch or 30 AU’s. Any force/change to one simultaneously alters the other. Because it makes no difference what the distance is there is no delay in transfer. So if teleportation is in common use we would have to be in a really peaceful time in our civilization. Otherwise one could detonate a device anywhere and teleport just the explosion.

3113 I was just diagnosed with irritable bowl syndrome... I blame Irene...

Yeah it is.

3113 There IS someone working on Teleporters Donna! The process and theory has been mapped out, and successful “teleportation” has occurred. However it was only a single atom. Not too complicated actually. The complicated part comes in when you are trying to teleport all the atoms in a body and have them all end up in the right place at the destination. It is a question of computing power. We just don’t have enough. Once we figure out how to produce quantum computers teleportation should be right behind it… (Within 10 years) Also it isn’t really a warp, more of an accelerated light wave… yeah; apparently light being the fastest thing in the universe is not entirely 100% accurate. I am still working on understanding that…
