Why would you consider it a classic romance novel?"

Because - per her biography, Kathleen E Woodiwiss "She is credited with the invention of the modern historical romance novel: In 1972 she released The Flame and the Flower, an instant New York Times bestseller that created a literary precedent. The novel revolutionized mainstream publishing, featuring an epic historical romance with a strong heroine and impassioned sex scenes. The Flame and the Flower was rejected by agents and hardcover publishers, who deemed it as "too long" at 600 pages. Rather than follow the advice of the rejection letters and rewrite the novel, she instead submitted it to paperback publishers. The first publisher on her list, Avon, quickly purchased the novel and arranged an initial 500,000 print run. The novel sold over 2.3 million copies in its first four years of publication."

It is a book I reread often and still love!

29443 Welcome, Nichole!
29443 I hate cliffhangers! Seems like a lot of folks are turning to cliffhangers in their series. When I read a book I want the whole story!

Not fond of shift shapers or vampires either.

29443 Wyatt Stone from Then Came You. Not a dangerous guy. More of a laid back veterinarian. Who doesn't love a guy who loves animals?

29443 Anyone read Arnette Lamb? It's been a while since I read her but I remember liking her books. I need to get her books again and reread them.

29443 British SAS soldier Ty Dempsey from Toni Anderson's The Killing Game is my choice for February's Hero of the month.

Don't really know exactly why he wins but he does. He had the right stuff. For one he is Irish and two, he is a soldier and those two should win it in themselves. But he is also there to save the day for our damsel in distress.

You Belong to Me actually starts a new series. But Most of Karen Rose books stand pretty well on their own. Mostly connected through characters.
