Hard to say, Danielle. The author has the ability to write a character that really appeals to me. They may not have certain qualities I'd want in real life or maybe they have issues or qualities that are unappealing but I'm drawn to them like a moth to a flame. And then there are the men that DO have those admirable qualities that make me want to hold them and love them.
A tie for me between Apollo Greaves of Darling Beast and Sam Brody of It's in His Kiss. Both books are written by two of my most favorite authors and they have such talent to make me love their characters. Even the ones I don't really want to love.

No five stars reads for me during August but I'll go with Brooks Gleason from Nora Roberts' The Witness. He's a small town Police Chief and steps up to the plate to protect his gal.
Yes, I think I am less tolerant of my DHs. Where I didn't mind certain traits 20 years ago, now they bother me. I find less enjoyment when my heroes act like major jerks and don't redeem themselves.
