29443 This challenge is for those of us who need help narrowing down their TBR piles. Here's a way to help you get those books read and to have fun and no pressure in the process.

Dates: 1 January-December 31, 20223

Rules:
1. Any DHASG member may participate.
2. Sign up here and engage with the participants on this challenge. If your profile is private, you will need to list all the books you want to be chosen for in this challenge. Otherwise, you can link to a shelf that you create for books you'd like to be chosen for the challenge. On the challenge page, you can create a shelf for books you'd like to qualify for the challenge. Please include at least 30 books to keep things interesting.
3. A book can only count once for the challenge.
4. No rereads (the goal is to read new to you books on your TBR pile).
5. You may choose as many or as few books you want to read for this challenge. If you read all the books you originally set as a goal, keep reading and setting new goals through the rest of the year.

On your thread, you will list the books separately by number and when you read them. You will need to update your feed with the recommendations and when you read them.

Your suggestion buddy will reply to your thread with a book or list of books they are recommending that you read. Participants may also keep track of books they recommend on their own feed. (it goes without saying that we all have different tastes, so let's refrain from making disparaging comments about people's reading tastes.)

6. Please avoid posting spoilers on any books. If you want to put a star rating by the book that's great (you can always link to your review if you'd like).

7. This is a new challenge format, so please feel free to make suggestions to facilitate the process.

8. I don't think there should be a penalty for dnf'ing the book. However, If you don't finish it, you don't get a point for it. You can have your buddy recommend another book in that case.

29443 Hello 2023!

What books are you reading this year?
Jan 01, 2023 05:48AM

29443 I would like to get back to reading more physical books. I haven't been reading as much because of life stuff, and I really miss the physical practice of reading a book. I think I will set a goal for myself to read at least 10 physical books this year.
Jan 01, 2023 05:47AM

29443 Do you have any reading goals for the new year? Let's discuss them here.
29443 Arch wrote: "It’s hard finding good books nowadays. I miss those times, back in the day, when a book grabbed me from the first page and it was hard for me to put down.

For a while now, I have been wanting to ..."

Sweet Liar is an old favorite of mine as well, Arch.
29443 Darcy wrote: "I got back to re-reading favorites, those comfort reads, where you love the characters and know what is going to happen, but don't care, because you love them!"

I think that's a great way to fall back in love with reading. I need to do something in 2023 to inspire me. I want to read more, but I just don't have the time or energy.
29443 It's probably no surprise that I have been in a protracted reading slump. It's a combination of being overwhelmed with life responsibilities, having some health problems, and not being inspired to read much lately. I would love fall back in love with reading.

Which books give you that first love feeling again?
29443 I would love some stories about Vasha, Arch!
29443 I loved this installment, Arch! I am very curious about Hester and the Valhalla school. I love how Cop and Vasha talk in code. I always love Cop and Sanjay flirting. Short but sweet installment, Arch!
29443 It seems like Evelyn was glad that Cop dealt with Larry. I really admire your ability to visualize your stories in your head, and i'm so glad that you keep writing consistently, even with how busy life is. Looking forward to the next installment!
29443 I'm so sorry I got behind reading your story, Arch! Three great installments.

Is the Malcolm guy going to be a recurring character?

The Kaylin/James/Sanjar situation is getting really edgy. I can see fireworks coming.

I liked the way Cop handled Evelyn's jerk ex-boyfriend.

Thanks for sharing! Keep them coming.
29443 Your shrimp-stuffed baked potatoes made me hungry!
29443 That was such a good installment, Arch. The chemistry is off the charts. I love a man who cooks!

Congratulations on the 12 year anniversary of Trespassing!
