29443 This is a no-no for me in romance books. I really don't like it period, but it's more acceptable in a suspense/thriller, fantasy or horror book.

29443 Do you like these books where the hero is a misanthrope and the only person he really likes is the heroine?

Can you recommend some good books in this category?

29443 I'm currently reading The Spy and I. The hero is a spy and is the heroine's sister's partner. I like it so far.
29443 The thread wasn't hijacked at all. I appreciate the conversation.

As far as pacing, I think that's a big issue for me. Usually, it stands out for me if the pacing is off. I like it to be consistent. I don't liked rushed endings, and I do get bored if absolutely nothing is happening. I don't like when the characters just talk about what they are going to do and don't do it. That was a major problem I had with The Atlas Six by Olivie Blake. They mainly talked about how tough they were and what they were going to do.

I don't mind 1st person stories if it's a detective novel, thriller or suspense. I don't care for it much in romances.
29443 I love how well you know your characters.

You're welcome. It's still a work in progress. Please feel free to start some threads!
29443 Arch, I am sorry for the delay in posting. Goodreads was acting up, and I didn't get a chance to get back over here.

I loved the installments you've added to the story. My favorite is with Hester. I also liked how everyone at his party is an agent. It reminds me of one of those scenes in a movie where they have titles where they say what the characters' names are and what their specialty is. I would love to see them on a mission together. It's great that he has such a ride or die friend.

I think that James is in love with Sanjar, but he knows it's a no go for Sanjar. Just my opinion.

Thanks, Xeey!
29443 I am not a fan of the second chance romance. There's a few that I like despite that, but I prefer that they have met for the first time. I have to admit, I love enemies to lovers, so they knew each other, and hated each other. I just find that theme very intriguing.

Agree about older stories grabbing your attention.

Excellent suggestion, Xeey!

Thanks for your suggestions, Gogol. I haven't read Repeat, so I'll check into that one.

I love Loretta Chase, but that's a reminder to do a reread of my favorites by her.

I have read These Old Shades and one other by Georgette Heyer, but there are plenty more to read.

Thanks so much!

29443 DHASG 2024 Mega-Challenge

Duration: January 1-December 31, 2024

Description: This group was formed for love of dangerous heroes, so why not celebrate them as our flagship challenge? Read books for challenges designed around the essence of what makes a hero dangerous.
