DHASG July Challenge
Introduction: Summer is in full spring. It's July and it's time to do that summer thing. Let's see what kind of reading we can explore in this month's challenge.
Rules:
1. Any DHASG member can participate in the challenge.
2. Books must be read between July 1st and July 31st.
3. A book may only be used once for this challenge.
4. Post or link to your final stats when you are completed.
5. In your stats, list book name, title and date read. Unless obvious, include why you choose a certain book in parentheses in your stats.
Levels:
1. Seventh Heaven: Read 8-12 books.
2. Seven Up: Read 7-5 books.
3. Pieces of Seven: Read 3-4 books.
Categories:
1. Don't Be Bored!: July is Anti-Boredom Month. Read a book designed to keep you far from being bored. Hot romance, thrilling chills, on the edge adventure. It's up to you.
2. We All Scream For Ice Cream!: July is also Ice Cream month! Woo hoo. That's license for me to eat an obscene amount of ice cream this month. Also, let's celebrate ice cream with reading a book that represents some facts about this amazing desert. Ice cream originated in the 17th century, so you could read a book set in a historical period (before 1960); Vanilla is the most popular flavor, but you can read a book that represents your favorite flavor; Since 87% of Americans have ice cream in their fridges, read a book where the character eats ice cream or there is a picture of ice cream on the cover; It can be painful and cause a medical condition if you eat ice cream too fast (Brain freeze), so read a book where the lead character needs medical attention; The bed and the bath are two interesting places people eat ice cream, so read a book with a delicious bedroom or bathroom scene. If you can think of another way to represent ice cream, you can use it. Here are some other ice cream facts: https://www.ecreamery.com/amazingly-s...
3. I Forgot Day: July 2nd is this day, a day not to remember something. Read a book with a main character who has amnesia.
4. By UFO, I Mean Aliens!: For World UFO Day on July 2nd, read a book with an extraterrestrial storyline.
5.Misbehaving Day: Disobedience Day is July 3rd. Read a book with a lead character who is misbehaving in some way.
6.Just Kidding!: I'm not kidding when I say that July 1st is International Joke Day. Read a book that is humorous or in which someone plays a joke on someone else.
7.Stay Out of the Sun Day: For this day on July 3rd, read a book with a character who must head this advice (aka vampire, sun-allergy, gargoyle, you name it).
8.Independence Day: The 4th of July is the holiday in which the United States celebrates its birthday and Independence from Great Britain. Read a book that represents this to you.
9.Country Music On the Radio: July 4th is also National Country Music Month. Read a book with a storyline that relates to country music in some way.
10.Chocolate Day--Mark Your Calendars!: A very important day, July 7th. It's your license to eat chocolate. Read a book that represents chocolate. The lead character likes chocolate, eats it in the book, makes chocolate for a living, or you could just read a romance since chocolate has the same chemical that falling in love causes in the brain.
11.Cheer Up the Lonely Day: For July 11th, this day is to help someone who's feeling alone. Read a book with a lead character(s) who receives help in their lonely times.
12.Pick One: Choose one of the holidays to read a book for--Different Colored Eyes Day, Fool's Paradise Day, Pandemonium Day, National Nude Day, Moon Day, Hammock Day.

Pagan, when my father died, I read so many books that weekend, I couldn't believe it, and wouldn't have if I hadn't been keeping track of my reading.
Zee, I'm so glad that chick lit helped you through Chemo.
When I first started having my bad vertigo really bad, it was hard because it was harder to read. I still did it, but it took a lot longer to read a book. I'm glad that i have compensated enough to read more.

Anyone else like this about books?
If you feel like sharing, tell us about a time when a particular book or series of books helped you through some rough times in your life.

I love Sherlock too!
We're getting caught up on Blindspot and I am jonesing for Sullivan Stapleton as Weller. It's funny. He was too sleazy as Damian on Strike Back, but I love him as Weller. :)

I've been enjoying some of my recent reads, and I have fortunately been reading a lot this summer.
Have you read any Lisa Kleypas? I'm finishing up her Travis series and her Friday Harbor series. The Travis series is 1st pov that is a bit on the edge of chick-lit. The heroes are luscious. The first book is Sugar Daddy. That is the most chick lit-like. The rest are more romance focused. The Friday Harbor series is light magical realism. The prequel is Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor, but you could start with Rainshadow Road.
I'm also reading a Victorian steamy romance series. I started wit the second book, but the first is The Highwayman.
