We were lucky enough to chat with Once & Future authors Amy Rose Capetta and Cori McCarthy about creating this King Arthur reimagining.

"I think, sometimes, there's an expectation that you have to stretch to create these [kinds of diverse] characters. And I think, to us, it would have been a stretch to not have a 'panoply of queerness' and a varied group of friends and people who populate this story. And, also, you know, you're dealing with a story based on the Knights of the Roundtable, which is a story that is maybe western civilization's first real fictive nod to equality."

I LOVE Pride and Prejudice. Was just thinking about doing another re-read this winter. I've also been conducting an unofficial poll to see who has read it/watched some screen adaptation. I thought everyone had at least seen a movie, but there is definitely a noticeable gender divide in the people I have asked--women have often both read and watched it, while men have often done neither. It's such an important book when it comes to modern storytelling in so many different mediums, and it's such a snarky read! Would definitely recommend to anyone who has not checked it out.

I'll have to check out Dark Matter. I had a new author on my "best of" list for the year: Arwen Elys Dayton, who wrote Stronger, Faster, and More Beautiful. This is the first book of hers I've read, and it really moved me.
