280669 For those who don't know, Nerdfighter is the name of the community that revolves around the online content created by An Absolutely Remarkable Thing author Hank Green and his brother author John Green. I'm curious how many people come to this book from that community and how many people come from different, organic directions.

For those who don't know much about Hank Green or Nerdfighteria, how did you find An Absolutely Remarkable Thing? For those who are part of the Nerdfighter community, was it hard to distance yourself from Hank as you know him in other capacities while reading this book? How do you feel An Absolutely Remarkable Thing relates to other aspects of the Nerdfighter community?

The winner has been announced! Sadly, we could only give one prize pack away. Have you had a chance to start Vengeful yet? (Vicious was my first V.E. Schwab book, too.)

280669 Welp, no surprise, I loved this book. From where I'm sitting, V.E. Schwab is one of the most talented writers of her generation, and Vengeful is just another example of her mastery.

I'm very intrigued and into June's character, who I think is the biggest mystery in Vengeful. I loved learning about Eli's backstory, in particular, even though it broke my heart. And Marcella has zero empathy, but she was so much damn fun to read about.

Here's my full review, if you want to check it out:

280669 The wonderful Emily Asher-Perin recently posted an article over at Tor.com about the Best Enemy Duos Who Care About Each Other. Vicious/Vengeful's Eli & Victor were, of course, listed, as well as frenemy faves like Charles & Erik from X-Men (my personal favorite), The Doctor & The Master/Missy from Doctor Who, and Sherlock & Moriarty from Sherlock Holmes.

What is your favorite Best Frenemy duo and what do you think makes this narrative structure so effective?

280669 V.E. Schwab has a little book called Vengeful coming out on September 25th. It's one of the most anticipated books of the year (for good reason) and, if you're anything like me, you have a lot of thoughts, feelings, hopes, and predictions for the Vicious sequel.

How are Victor, Sydney, Mitch, and Dol doing? Are they still in found family mode? Does Sydney know Victor and Mitch killed her sister? How will new characters Marcella and June change the world of the EOs? And how is Eli doing in jail? Gah, so many questions. So many feelings. So much excitement.

Let me know what you are thinking/feeling about Vengeful below!

280669 It's been five years since Vicious was first published, introducing readers to the scary, wonderful, morally-complex work of Eli Ever and Victor Vale, two friends-turned-enemies who discover the secret to supernatural ability lies in near death experiences.

Maybe you read VICIOUS back in the day, maybe you read it more recently, maybe you're reading it right now. Whatever the case may be, feel free to post your spoiler-filled reviews in the thread below. Who is your favorite character? (I love Mitch and Serena.) Do you think Victor is evil? What do you think your EO ability would be? All forms of reviews and discussions are welcome!

Same! This was the first "classic" I read that didn't feel like a duty. It was a joy. It remains one of my favorite books of all time.

280669 Cherie wrote: "How old does it have to be to be considered a classic? Are we talking Mary Shelley/Bram Stoker, Isaac Asimov/Ray Bradbury, or Ursula LeGuin/Douglas Adams old?"

Good question! I was thinking Mary Shelley/Bram Stoker-era, as this is the era the book is interested in, but I am always open to people interpreting questions and discussion in their own way!

280669 In EUROPEAN TRAVEL FOR THE MONSTROUS GENTLEWOMAN, Theodora Goss draws inspiration from some of literature's most popular stories of speculative fiction, including Frankenstein, Dracula, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, The Island of Doctor Moreau, and Rappaccini's Daughter.

What is your favorite speculative literature classic?
280669 We chatted with Theodora Goss about crafting the world of the Athena Society. Listen to the entire podcast interview at the link below:

280669 EUROPEAN TRAVEL FOR THE MONSTROUS GENTLEWOMAN continues the adventure started in THE STRANGE CASE OF THE ALCHEMIST'S DAUGHTER. It follows Mary Jekyll, Beatrice Rappaccini, Catherine Moreau, Justine Frankenstein, and Diana Hyde as they solve mysteries, form a found family, and find space for their voices in classic 19th century literary canon.

What did you think of EUROPEAN TRAVEL? Did you like the road trip structure that differs from THE ALCHEMIST'S DAUGHTER's London-based action? What did you think of the inclusion of characters from Dracula? Which characters would like to see Dora Goss add in the trilogy's final installment?
