27776 Do not post anything that gives stuff away. Lets try to keep this thread spoiler-free.

I just started it today, and if I post stuff in here, I don't want to come in and find out the ending of the book before we get there...

27776 If you have anything to say about the book and you're worried it might give something away, put it in here.

It's a good idea to just post in here if you've already finished the book... (Katie)

27776 You could have read... or searched for books... or helped someone... or recommended books to people... or read...

or read...
Jan 13, 2010 04:50PM

27776 Oh, and maybe you two could have been helping out others who were starting their accounts rather than just messaging back and forth... geez.

27776 I think we've decided on having 4 books going at a time. You'd only have to read the ones you want to, and indeed... you wouldn't have to read any. Of course, what's the point of being in a book club if you don't read the books, right?

For the first time around, we're going to have 4 categories, but one title has already been chosen. Category 1: Girl book

Category 2: Guy book

Category 3: Adventure book

Category 4: Either guy or girl book (book that either a guy or girl would like to read)

The "girl book" has already been chosen. We're reading Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen. You're all more than welcome to read along.

Rules:

Anybody can nominate from any category.

You may only nominate 2 of the 3 remain categories.

You need to state what category each book falls in, and list the title of the book, and the author. If you don't know them, look them up. (You're on goodreads for crying out loud.)

So, for example I'll start:

I nominate the book Dust of 100 Dogs by A.S. King for cat. 3 (adventure read)

I nominate the book The Maze Runner for cat. 4 (either a guy or a girl)

Nominations have to be in by next Tues. We'll vote on Wednesday.

27776 I hope some of you guys that don't have profile pics up will add something - anything is better than the blankness we're looking at now. It doesn't have to be a picture of you... it can just be a flower for all I care. Or four-wheeler, or whatever.

27776 Awesome about your book.

27776 I don't know if you're all aware of this yet or not, but Waldenbooks at the mall is going out of business. Everything is at least 50% off.

Liz and I happened across it on date night tonight. I got some great stuff for myself, and maybe the block.

They didn't have Along for the Ride anymore. I would have bought them all if they did...

27776 You could have had it for the weekend. You can get it whenever you want.

I ordered my copy and should have it by Tues.
Jan 09, 2010 12:42PM

27776 I was just thinking, since we have like... 30 people in our group (counting Mrs. S, Mrs. B, and myself - maybe we should read 2 "girl" books at a time and 2 "guy" books at a time. That way, after we're done reading we could maybe switch trade with the other groups and we would only have to purchase half the books.

Although, this means you may have less of a choice of what gets picked... We could fine tune all of our policies next week and those of us who have the first guy or girl book could start in on those...

Any thoughts?

27776 In case you all were wondering, our first meeting is Tuesday. Monday we go to our regular CAP classes so everyone else finds out where they're going.
Jan 05, 2010 04:45PM

27776 @ Kelsey - I'm not sure what you're talking about, maybe you should send me a message with your concern. : )
Jan 03, 2010 03:28PM

27776 Tues: go get your lunch as fast as you can, and bring it down to my room.

Ask me about it tomorrow. I may even give you guys a budge pass to make sure we have enough time for everything.

If this changes I'll let you know tomorrow.
Jan 02, 2010 09:08PM

27776 This is for stuff that doesn't have anything to do with the book club. If I notice that you're starting to get too far off topic, I may move the discussion over here. : )
Jan 02, 2010 09:03PM

27776 Anything school related can go in this folder, that includes questions about when we'll meet, what we should read, who/how we should recruit in school, goals, etc...

If you want to start a new topic thread in this folder, go ahead. Don't feel obligated to just keep posting on this one.
Jan 02, 2010 08:58PM

27776 I don't think we'll announce the club, but I want to extend it to more than you guys if you're up for it... maybe invitation only?

Also, Catching Fire was slower to get into than The Hunger Games, but I don't think it was as slow for me as Brittney's saying it is.

P.S. I just got a TON of reading done. I'm going to read more right now, but it's getting pretty late.
Jan 02, 2010 07:50PM

27776 also, i'm going off-line now because i'm spending too much time talking about reading, and too little time actually reading... so i'm going to read now.
Jan 02, 2010 07:51PM

27776 i responded in your email.

you know the greatest part about being online? you can google anything you don't know, and it takes like... 20 seconds.

lets plan on tuesday lunch. does that sound good to everybody?
Jan 02, 2010 07:30PM

27776 Cool.

We have got to consolidate our message boards.

Maybe I'll work on that tonight before I go to bed.
