bought some marley the other day in tk maxx. tk maxx you say? yes, it was coffee - founded by marley's son, rohan, every blend/strength named after one of his da's songs,

given a choice of several (and at about half the prices shown here), i bought 'misty morning'. seemingly a rich roast, hoping 'everything's gonna be alright', i found it to not as strong (like a lion in zion) or totally 'satisfying my soul' as the admittedly industrial blends i normally use. no bad, i'll give it 3 (little birds) out of 5! not enough to ecourage me to 'get up, stand up' to buy some more!

an innapropriate song for a wedding, actually singing it!

at the reception for my brother in law's wedding, and having just witnessed uncle charlie's flawless reading of 'annie's song' (with live band), my sister in law and her friend huckled me up to sing something (the deal was that they would sing back-up - of course they pissed off and left me to it, innit) having spent the previous weeks soaking up nick cave's covers album, 'kicking against the pricks', i decided (not soberly) to sing the only song that i could remember all the lyrics of, "right, guys, do you know 'by the time i get to phoenix'?..............uncle charlie hung his head in shame!

yeah, contingent! they all came from different tables, y'know, not cordoned off or anything (although some weren't even chaps!), sitting with their friends and families, and upon the signal (let it go) came together to form a contingent in song, an expression of unity and joy - it was no big deal, really, just a nice memory.

i wrote gay contingent, but i usually just call them by their names

it's not the worst song in the world - it's a favourite of my grand-daughter, so i hear it quite a lot. also stirs up a pleasant memory of my son's wedding (nearly 6 yrs ago) - when it was played at the reception, the gay contingent gathered in the middle of the dancefloor to sing along with alcohol fuelled passion - a real 'moment', as i would tellyou!

the 'hit the road' and 'in satan's dub' discs arrived today - spotless and shiny, look barely untouched, never mind unplayed. highly rec. seller.
i love big youth's transition from toaster to singer on 'htrj', the joy and enthusiasm in his vocals are palpable, esp. on the opener, a take on marvin gaye's 'what's goin' on'. great album, a couple of years ahead of his ultimate 'singing' record, 'isiaih, first prophet of old', which is my favourite b.y. album.
