268590 enter the most expensive new single CD we've ever bought,

amazon.co.uk/Zeit-Rammstein/dp/B09T8V...

coming in at £27.46 (yeah!), it is certainly beautifully packaged, impressive, but what to the 11 (always 11) songs within? for an album that wouldn't have happened but for covid, it feels very complete. they still hammer, but seem to have grown more selective where and when to hammer! it appears to be more considered and the strength comes from the construction of the songs, but Rammstein have always been contrary beasts - e.g. as far as singles go, the deep and complex 'Zeit' was followed by 'Zick Zack', an excercise in bubblegum metal! there are a lot of sides to the coin, and tbh, this doesn't play like any of their previous records - the difference between, even 2019's 'untitled' and this is pretty significant, unified is a word i'd use, a whole band sound, very much in sync with each other - a collective effort. unmistakable!
Lindemann seems to have brought his singing style from other recent projects to the table, the breadth of his vocal talents in alignment with the more complex song constructions, thus improving with age. upon first play, there is not a weak track, even 'Dicke Titten' (go figure!). this does illustrate the many themes that run within Rammstein - from the deeply introspective lyrical and musical content here, to the cheeky wee boy inappropriate romp there. all part of the rich tapestry as hung!
i'm finding this album to be instantly accessible whilst at the same time promising to be a complex and serious piece of work to be unravelled over, well, Zeit!

268590 probably because it was thought that i should, that i steered clear. i've read and enjoyed many 'difficult' books in a variety of vernaculars, some even using 'made up' language, so it's not that. i dunno, guess i didn't deem them punk enough? just don' wanna!

268590 neither at school or since have i read a word of Dickens or Shakespeare - to nutshell it, i just don't fancy them!
the only book i can recollect from school is 'The Invisible Man' by Ralph Ellison - the teacher thought i had ripped it off for a short story i had written (i hadn't), and lent me a copy to read - of course i still have it, and have read it at least twice, classic!
268590 underneath what? oooh, Matron!

268590 anyhoo,

'pon a rec from a pal, and after 40 years, buying my first music by Attila The Stockbroker. as the title suggests this 30 minute, 4 track ep is a forage into the dread arts, and a very successful effort it is - rants about Daltrey, Grenfell, Brexit, etc, over some excellent contemporary reggae rhythms - first 3 tracks are in showcase discomix form ie, rant/dub, the homework well done. on limited 12",but as i'm not buying in vinyl, paid a value laden fiver for the d/load. seriously brilliant!

268590 and anyhoo, i saw the future of mankind last night, and it wasn't pretty! from our window we can see the public bin/dogshit receptacle across the road. we saw two young boys (8-10ish) behaving strangely - each had their whole arm in the bin to grab bags of dogshit to throw at each other! is this a sign of the great regression? i mean chimpanzees throw shit at each other! what can you say?
