21757 This thread is for "marking" a book genre. It is not for assigning genres - only for locking in genres that currently appear on the book's main page.

The verifications in this thread apply only to the Summer 2025 challenge - they do not carry over to future challenges and genre verifications from the past challenges do not carry forward - verifications are only applicable to the current challenge.

A book need only be verified once in the thread - then it can be used by any participant in the Summer 2025 challenge.

Please do not post task-specific questions here ("is this cover green enough?") and other such questions.

If you are planning to use a book for a genre task and fear that the genre may disappear, post a link to the book in this thread. We will not "lock in" the lack of a childrens or kids genre on the main page.

When you post your book, if the genres have changed, just link to the post in this thread in which it was verified and you'll be good to go.

Because of the volume of verification requests in this thread, I will not be trying to compile any sort of master lists. If the book you are using does not have the required genre at the time of posting, but has been verified in this thread, please link to the post in which it was verified in your completed task posting. If the book you are posting still has the genre on the main page, there is no need to refer to any posts here or in other help threads - if it's there on the main page, you're all set.

I don't see where she is currently performer or that the performance is central to the story. In this case it would not work.

21757 Here is the Review Raffle thread for Summer 2025.

We will draw a random name from anyone who posts a review in this thread and they will be given the opportunity to create a task in the Fall 2025 season - the more reviews that you post, the more chance of being drawn!

Reviews must be for books read within the current challenge period. You may link to your review on Goodreads, or type the review in the thread. (Please do not link to a review on a site outside of Goodreads).

Your review does not have to be positive but it should be at least a couple of sentences long - "loved it" or "not for me" is not helpful to other readers!

Please remember to include your Readerboard name when posting your review.

21757 30.6 Kmaried's Task - Catching Up On Series

The majority of books I read seem to be parts of series, especially in the last few years. I have 3 TBR lists on GR dedicated to this: series-new, series-next, and series-tbr. As I read them, the books get sorted into the next list so I don't have to always go to the series page to see where I am. I like to read series in order.

One of my goals for this season is to see how many of these I can get off my series-next list. So, this task is going to focus on series books.

This is a two-book task. Choose two different options and read 1 book for each option. Books must come from 2 different series.
Series must appear on the GR main book page. Whole numbers only.
Required State the options

Option A: Get caught up in a series. Read the current last published book in a series of at least 3 books. This can be the last one published before the season started (June 1, 2025). One that is published in the current season is eligible, but not required since new books are sometimes hard to get in a timely fashion.

Option B: I have copied my series-next list onto another shelf for this task since the original will change throughout the season. Choose a book from my Series-SRCSummer shelf. Read that book or one in the same series.
Required: State the original book picked if reading another in the series shelf.

Option C: Make progress on a series you have already started. Read a book that is #3 or above but not the last published book in the series.
21757 30.5 DELICIOUS DEE 's Task: Classic Science-Fiction: HG Wells

Science fiction is a favorite genre of mine, so I thought we might take some time to explore some of its the classic authors.

This is a two book task. Choose two different options and read one book for each option
The combined page count of the books must be at least 501 pgs. No children’s books allowed..
Required State the options

Option 1 - Read a book by H.G. Wells

Option 2 - Read a book by a single author where ALL the authors initials can be found in H.G. Wells. Letters may be used as often as they appear.

Option 3 - H.G. Wells was born 21 September 1866 and died 13 August 1946. Read a book that was first published between those dates.

Option 4 - Many of H.G. Wells books featured technology and futuristic scenarios that came to reality. Such as an Atomic Bomb in the The World Set Free and traveling to the moon in The First Men in the Moon. You can read more about some of the technologies that appeared in his books here: https://www.smithsonianmag.com/arts-c...
Read a book that can be found on the first 5 pages of the following shelves:
Technology Books
Futuristic Books
Required: state the list and the page

Option 5 - While the original War of the Worlds was set in Great Britain; on Halloween 1938, a radio production of H.G. Wells War of the Worlds incited panic in New Jersey when people thought an alien invasion was occurring. You can read more about it here: https://www.lunaticsproject.com/post/....
Read a book that is set at least 75% in Great Britain (England, Scotland, Wales) or in New Jersey, USA.
Required If the setting is not obvious from the Goodreads Main Page, provide a reference.
