213642 (BARC) Activity Report Day 7:

Recommendation Time!: 5 and 6 star books from this week in the order I finished those

Boundaries When To Say Yes, How to Say No by Henry Cloud 5* great (Christian) non-fiction about setting, developing and mantaining boundaries in all kind of relationships - tough stuff for people struggling in this area but very helpfull
The Vigilante's Bride by Yvonne Harris 6* wonderful (Christian) historical romance fiction with a dash of suspense, mail-order-bride (and I'm no more that fond of HF!) this book will make it for sure into my top ten for this year, perhaps even into the top five - we'll see what other gems I'll discover within the next four months :-)
Das Leben, nach dem du dich sehnst Geistliches Training für Menschen wie du und ich by John Ortberg = The Life Youve Always Wanted by John Ortberg 5* - (Christian) non-fiction, spiritual life and personal development (mostly in term of life as part of (Christian) community) - it's my third book by John Ortberg (all read within the last five months) and I loved all of them
Angels Fall by Nora Roberts 5* RS - this one is among my top five by Nora Roberts - if not even the top three - #1 & 2 are The Witness by Nora Roberts and The Search by Nora Roberts , not sure if liked High Noon by Nora Roberts more that this one and I'll re-read it to be sure ;-)
A Merciful Death (Mercy Kilpatrick #1) by Kendra Elliot 5* RS - Kendra Elliot is becomming more and more one of my favorite authors and I'm so glad I discovered Hidden (Bone Secrets, #1) by Kendra Elliot her debut novel last year even if it's her weakest but still great - especially for a very first book :-)

213642 (BARC) Activity Report Day 6:

Reader to Writer: not my cup of tea :-)

Love to hate:Who's the character you LOVE to HATE? For today's challenge, share with us one (or more!) of the characters you love to hate.

That's a concept so alien to me I really can't think of such a character. The closest I can think of:
Lady Susan by Jane Austen Lady Susan - I despised the MC but still loved the book.

213642 (BARC) Activity Report Day 4:

Madd Libs Mixer - BoB Style: Not worthy to be up when (you're) bad headlined.
I think that should work - another tough activity but fun again :-)

A Kiss Gone Bad (Whit Mosley, #1) by Jeff Abbott (headlined) "A" is for Actress (Malibu Mystery, #1) by Rebecca Cantrell (bad) Deployed (Called to Serve, #1) by Mel Odom (worthy) The Storyteller of Inis Mór Could a Legend Save his Life? by Brian O'Raleigh (be) Deceptive Cadence (The Virtuosic Spy, #1) by Kathryn Guare (up) My Sister's Secret by Tracy Buchanan (when) Unending Devotion (Michigan Brides, #1) by Jody Hedlund (to) The Prayer Box by Lisa Wingate (not)

If you like this, try that . . .

If you like Operation Zulu Redemption Collateral Damage - Part 1 by Ronie Kendig by Ronie Kendig
... strong female characters try Miss Fortune series - first book Louisiana Longshot (Miss Fortune Mystery #1) by Jana Deleon , All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr or Riptide by Eric E. Wright
... good written Christian RS, try Lynette Eason, Dee Henderson or Irene Hannon
... RS, try Karen Rose Julie Ann Walker, Kendra Elliot or Kathleen Brooks
... contemporary Christian military ficition, try Even Now / Ever After (Lost Love, #1-2) by Karen Kingsbury , Deployed (Called to Serve, #1) by Mel Odom or Don Brown
... conspiracy themed books, try Jason Bourne series - especially The Bourne Betrayal (Jason Bourne, #5) by Eric Van Lustbader or Orphan X (Evan Smoak, #1) by Gregg Hurwitz

That was an easy one!
Aug 21, 2017 09:57AM

213642 (BARC) Activity Report Day 3: That was a tough one! There're so many great books / covers it was really difficult to cut it down to eight. I picked those because either the cover grabbed my interest each time I'm going through my Kindle or because they are interesting/beautiful. So far I didn't read any of those but most of them are on my soon-TBR-mental-shelf

Recommendation Time:
Sun: The Outlaw Preacher by John W. Andrews Solomon's Porch A Christian Suspense Novel by Wid Bastian Mr. Crotchety by Rich Amooi Die Liebe, nach der du dich sehnst Vom Kopf ins Herz - Gottes Liebe fühlen lernen by John Ortberg

Moon: Equinox by David Manoa Once Upon a Moonlight Night (The Bella Novella Collection #1) by Janice Thompson Murphy’s Luck by Benjamin Laskin We All Married Idiots Three Things You Will Never Change About Your Marriage and Ten Things You Can by Elaine W. Miller

Book spine rainbow:

Harrison,
I just can't believe my bad luck! First I get burned on my last undercover assignment (you know arm candy of this shady arms dealer?) and there was no other possibility I had to kill him. I can see how boss wasn't happy I used these feet-killing-things they call shoes - that was the only thing they were good for anyway so no loss there. Since boss suspects there's a mole he decided to send me on vacation?!? Now I have to pose as his former beauty queen turned librarian niece in the bayou! Hello doesn't he know I don't have one female bone in my body?!? I'm an assassin! But if I want to fly below the radar until you found the leek and the price on my had goes away I didn't have a choice.

I'm less then six hours in hicktown now and got already a reprimand from the local deputy (hey why do they force me all the time to wear this feet-killing shoes - I had to get rid of them and the murky water seemed like a perfect choice) and when I finally got to my aunt's house her stupid dog fished a bone from the bayou and two old nice ladies asked for my help. It shouldn't be a problem only I didn't know they head The Geritol Mafia and now I'm really deep in trouble if I don't solve that murder and get off the deputy's radar. Why don't I just shot myself and spare all of us the trouble, grrrrrrrrr.

I hope you can smooth things out with boss

213642 Thank you and good to know. So I'm going now to create my thread and can continue my monthly reading weekend (a German speeking group) into the BoB and close with the monthly RaT (CCC) - that's looking like a great month and the next will be almost as great with the annual Tackle Your TBR Read-a-thon. I joined it the last two years and I'm already looking for this year's. It's always held in September (this year 9/11 - 9/24). Here's the link to the Tackle Your TBR Read-a-thon (GR Group) & the Wishful Endings web page / sign-up just in case there's any interest :-)

213642 I'm new here and until I find my way around, please have patience with me :-)

I have already questions:
1) I was born in Poland but grew up mostly in Germany - would original Polish or German books qualify for this challenge? (If there's no English edition I would provide a lit. translation)

2) Most of the names in our family are very Polish and for my father's first name and my mother's second first name there are English form - since I don't expect to find the original forms in any of the books I wanted to know if I can use the English Richard instead of Ryszard & Elizabeth instead of Elzbieta?

213642 Hi, I'm Agnieszka and I blame my co-SFRC Challenge Addicts for joining. Actually I just wanted to see what this is all about and decided to join two challenges (for now).

My favorite genres right now are RS (romantic suspense) & realistic, edgy womens fiction. Though as long as it's not horror, hard-core SF, fantasy or PN stuff - I read almost everything. Did I mention I love challenges ;-)
