213642 If it was started/finished after the 6th, you can use it since we opened things up on the 6th so anyone can do anything now. If you completed it before we opened it up, I'd say no, it shouldn't be used.

For your character, you can read for Terence or Higgs now, it doesn't have to be just your last name since opening it up.

See post 564 for how/when we opened it up, if there are some of you that haven't seen that yet.

I finished my last Ch 10 book today, so I can take whatever. I'll look for stuff tomorrow.

213642 I don't read a lot of long books, but try this list of books over 1000 pages. Just looking quickly I saw several on there that would work including:

The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas Les Misérables by Victor Hugo The Stand by Stephen King

213642 I'll be taking care of this one for you Jenny, probably later on this week. I'm gonna mark it down on my list of stuff I'm currently working on, but could you come back here and remind me, maybe Wed? Cuz right now I'm a bit preoccupied, so I wanna make sure I don't forget you!! :)
Apr 08, 2018 01:28PM

213642 Yup, fine by me, and I'm sure Angie as well. :) It seems we're all reading books that can cover multiple things, which is a good thing.
Apr 07, 2018 07:03AM

213642 No, sorry. Since Hades is all Fire and Ice, we'll have to stick with actual ice.

213642 Nice find Jackie!

I haven't looked yet for any of the titles, probably will on Monday.

Hey Ashley, since you usually like my recs, have you tried Jeremy Robinson yet? He's very similar to Matt Reilly. I ask, cuz the first book of his Chess Team series features a Hydra in story / on cover which would fit good for the challenge.

If it doesn't look like your thing, I could re-read it, unless it looks good to Jackie / Angie?

Nah, let's just have anyone do anything, just stick with your house for now.

213642 I have one more book that I'm reading now for finishing up what I wanted to Ch 10.

Since this chapter didn't go so well, let's open it up. New Rules for the rest of Ch 11:

~ Students should only read for their House (to start with)
~ If all of Griffindor/Hufflepuff gets completed then they may help on the others
~ any one can do the non-house tasks

213642 I'll put it on the sheet. I made a staging area for books cuz my book covers several as well. I'll be done with mine tonight.

213642 Hi Alexa! My picks for you:

The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton ~ because I want to read it too

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid ~ because I found it funny you have two books that start with "The Seven" AND has the name Evelyn in it on your shelf. :) That's just nuts!

213642 Thanks for my picks WW. Unfortunately I only got through one of them, as I didn't read much this month, but I did love it.

Whispers of the Dead (Special Tracking Unit #2) by Spencer Kope

I LOVE this series and I was glad for the push to finally read it. I've had the ARC for a little while and just kept putting it off for no reason. The MC, Steps, is so unique and awesome. He's flawed, which I always like but really awesome at the same time. His ability is quite neat and I just love everything about the books. They are great. I can't wait for more.

213642 Hey Plethora!

How is it April already?! Sorry I never checked back in for Feb. I ended up reading two of your picks, though the last one I finished up a few days after the deadline.

1888-The Ripper File Book One of the Paranormal; Research and Rescue Institute (Paranormal Institute) by Lora Edwards
This was was really enjoyable, I gave it 4 stars. I liked the premise and the characters. It definitely kept my attention through the book. I only wish it wasn't romance (as all/most books seem these days) and I knew who the killer was right away. But it was enjoyable and fun. I read it because I thought it might have a Just One Damned Thing After Another vibe (it did not) but it was enjoyable none the less.

Mr. Lemoncello's Great Library Race (Mr. Lemoncello's Library, #3) by Chris Grabenstein
I typically love Grabenstien's books, but this one took a long while to get going for me, so I rated it a 3. It's the 3rd book in and it felt like the kids were getting more childish instead of growing up a little. Around 50% it finally started picking up for me and I did really enjoy the last half of it. An enjoyable series overall, the author's books are always a lot of fun.
