201765 Yeah I’m an expert at that. (The room fell apart with laughter.)

201765 I just clicked on whichever advert it was (can’t remember which one) and it stated the problem with the payment options which when I checked were my debit cards which pay for the other ads. I didn’t get to do anything with that ad. (I’m having difficulty getting my brain to cement the terminology of all the new words. I keep forgetting.)

I don’t want to be in KU thanks. I’ve spent too long getting set up on the other platforms. I’d have to take the time to find out how I pull the book from those. I’d rather plod along and eventually figure out how to market on them too. I’ll have to look at the blurb again. I thought it was ok. I thought it represented the book.

201765 You haven’t put your foot in anything to my knowledge. I’m just still blundering around trying to find what works for me.

201765 I don’t think so. I didn’t do at all well in KU 3p here. 3p there. It was pathetic.

201765 I’m not in KU so all mine are down to sales. And not very many. But that’s nothing new.

201765 I've not been exclusive to Amazon for ages. I am always put off by things that say anyone in their mix can download my book in an unprotected format. I'm waiting to see if someone will say it's fine and it's what everyone does.

201765 Both of my teenagers write fiction. My son only reads non-fiction. The only novel he’s read is Michael Crichton’s Jurassic Park. (Probably so he could correct the descriptions of dinosaurs.)

201765 My 14 year old son isn’t that interested. Can’t win them all. He’s very good at other things.

201765 My daughter is 18 and reads as much as her studies allow. Admittedly, with the high workload of A-Levels she hasn’t got through as many paperbacks as normal but she still takes one with her whenever we go out.

201765 Well, that's terrifying. I've just submitted an ams thingy on the US site. The terrifying bit is the maximum budget is $100. I can only do one type of ad because KDP doesn't like my payment method for the other type. (No idea, there's nothing wrong with it.) So I've got an interest type ad. (Taps fingers and waits for results.)

I messed around with bids and maximum daily amount on the UK ones. All that happened is I spent more money. I do sell more books in the US though.

201765 I recently expressed an interest in obtaining a review from www.lovereading.co.uk. I can't remember if this site was suggested to me by someone else or if I came across it via a google search. Has anyone used it before?

They say I can be added to their 'new self-publishing review platform.
This is currently DRM free which means your books will be available for free download by any of our trusted member reviewers in an unprotected format.'

Is that a good thing? An OK thing? Not a thing at all?

Thanks.

201765 No you just select the paperback rather than the ebook version. I’ve got both running. Difficult to compare sales between authors though as we write different genres.

201765 Some of the people I’ve had conversations with in the UK have said they don’t use an ereader and read paperbacks. Of course, I’ve only spoken to a handful of people. As of a year ago the UK was second behind the US for the percentage of people who use online shopping in the world. Amazon is huge over here. I even get my groceries delivered. (Thankfully. But not from Amazon although they will do that.). So it’s not lack of use of online shopping. Although we have other ereaders here people have only ever talked about Kindle Apps and Kindles in my hearing. I don’t know what their problem is.

201765 I don’t know much about the economy in the US, in the UK my other business is still suffering from the knock on effects of the economic crisis in 2008. So in the UK it’s my view that some people go for free ebooks rather than anything with a price tag. Anything over 99p in the UK is difficult to shift. I don’t sell many, but in the UK I’ve sold paperbacks recently but no ebooks. So tangible things are ok with a price tag but digital things are not. I don’t have any evidence to support any of this just things I’ve heard and what people tell me about feeling entitled to free ebooks. I really must knock out a permafree short something just to get people to my paid for works.

201765 I worry about things like that all the time. I wouldn't, er, worry about it. Um. It's fine. My claps start at four people upwards.

Here's one of me showing how I understand nothing in life:

Something popped into my head about doctor/patient confidentiality, that's all. Thank you, Hugs"

Ah, I see. I saw a drama the other day that says you're fine. (Court drama where a lawyer was also a patient and someone else shouted about doctor patient confidentiality.) You're the patient. You have the right to waive confidentiality. You haven't named anyone. You're fine.
