Hello everyone. I have a question about getting paid when publishing on Medium. It says you have to set up a Stripe Account. This is the first time I have heard of Stripe. So I wanted to know if there are any others on here that use it on Medium and how safe is it since it ask to link your bank account.

Not affecting me at all. There hasn't been any reports of anyone getting it in my area. Cautious but not panicking over it. It does make me think about The Book of Revelations and reminds me of those Scifi movies that come on.

Praying that the virus goes away soon and wondering how long will it be around.

I have 4 books out and not doing well with sales. I am hoping that will change. Most people I personally know often do not want to purchase online but then only a few people will purchase a book if I physically have a copy. It cost me too much to buy a lot of books to try to sell to people who sometimes will change their minds once I have a physical copy. I have books on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and just recently learned one is on Walmart.My books are selling some but not to really make a huge income. Haven't made any sales these last few months.

Would love to know your secret. Working on my 5th book now. Was told the more books you have the better chances you have in getting more sales. But so far I haven't seen that happening.

Good news! I do not know how or when it happened but I have discovered one of my books on Walmart's website. I have four books and they are carrying my 2nd book Soul Mates: Poems of Eternal Love. I accidentally came across it.

I released my 4th book in September. My publisher and I both thought it would do really well because of the topic and amazing book cover. Have only sold a couple. None of my books are selling in large amounts like a lot of other authors reports. I do not have the money to pay for marketing and exposure like a lot of other authors do. This year I did win 2018 Female Author in Poetry for my 3rd book but that didn't help in sales. It's really frustrating since the few people who have purchased my books have really enjoyed them. Out of all of my books I have 7 reviews and none have been negative. I will not give up and I will keep trying. I just wish one day my publisher will say there is a huge increase in sales and my books are climbing the Amazon charts. I even did a 99cents sale for a week and only 1 person placed an order. Again it's disappointing but I am not giving up. Just needed to vent.

Just 1 more question before I dive in. Is your work on there protected? Are there rules in place to protect your work?

Thank you everyone. You have been so helpful. I am seeking full time work or at least part-time, but Medium seems like a great start to something amazing. Definitely giving it a try. I was going to write for a website called Wordisode but they appeared to be no longer running. I use to get weekly stories from them and then it stopped. Checked their website and it's no longer up. Their facebook page hasn't been updated in a while. I was disappointed. They had a good unique thing going.

Sounds interesting. Do I have to pay the $5 fee if I just want to write? How does that work? Is it automatically taken out when they pay me. I went to the website and wasn't clear on that? Also are they opened to all types of work? Meaning fiction too because I see they mention storytellers but I did not come across any fictional pieces.

I wanted to say that I haven't had much luck in sales with my latest book. But it is slowly selling. A few days ago a reader on here told me she read my book, loved it, and would recommend to others. I am always happy to know my work moved someone.

Thank you. I do write poetry but I also enjoy writing on topics as well as short stories. I am open and hoping to be able to write for a magazine or newspaper. But thank you for your list and I will check those out.
