201765 Thank you, Dale. I have real trouble with commas. I am forever taking them out and putting them back. A good writing friend who is also an actor says he likes punctuation to tell him where to pause for effect, etc. Also, because my trusty laptop broke down and stayed dead until I bought a new one (when it promptly sprang back to life) I now have Windows 11 which is constantly reminding me I've left a comma out after a something or other clause.

I think, particularly for the blurb, I'll do a bit of culling. Thank you.

Thank you. I'm thinking I can run with that until I get inspired 5 years down the line.

I'll try to be patient and await further useful comments.

201765 Here's my latest effort:

"For career girl, Liberty Taffet, the idea of making a catastrophic mistake is unthinkable. To get away from two-timing heartbreaker, Dr Nicolo Nylander, and a rapidly collapsing new business venture being hammered by the worldwide pandemic, she sets off to visit Regency England. She knows the secret, she’s done her research – what could possibly go wrong? Landing in Swinging London in the 1960s pursued by two unknown men, and unable to remember who she is, she is befriended by Gemma who takes her under her wing. Gemma’s loveable brother is full of fun and soon Liberty is having more excitement than she ever believed possible. Yet why do two strangers keep appearing, seemingly from nowhere and what are their intentions?

"Follow Liberty on her adventurous learning curve and see where she ends up."

Better? Worse? Still need work?

201765 Thank you so much, Valerie. I'm going to rewrite it and come back with something better - I hope.

And Dale and Carole have reminded me (much needed) to put Liberty's full name.

Back later - much later, I suspect.

201765 Thank you, Dale. I am going to be working on it again today and you have both given me some very good pointers.

Bad stranger does wreak havoc and so... ah... my mind is filling with using/sorting that one. Thanks.

201765 Ooh, as ever you are so quick and so good.

Thank you. Much clearer than mine.

201765 I'd appreciate some comments on my first attempt at the blurb for my 7th book. I ought, by now, be able to write a good one but it's as hard as ever.

Plot: Young capable woman thinks she can easily get to Regency England (during the pandemic). Fails. Ends up in London in the 60s. Loves it. Meets a goodie and a vengeful baddie from the 21st century. She feels she's daft, confused etc. Things go wrong. Happy ever after ending.

Tear it apart, please. Here's the blurb:

For a competent young woman like Liberty, making the mistake of a lifetime could have been catastrophic. Oblivious of the looming world-wide pandemic, she sets off for a few days in Regency England. She’s done her homework – the secret is simple. Pursued by unknown voices as she dashed towards her goal, she makes a fundamental mistake. Finding herself in the Swinging Sixties, she begins to revel in her new life especially once she meets a mysterious stranger who says he knows her. Loss of memory turns out to be the least of her troubles and his. Can they survive long enough to reach the safe haven of his family history?

OR IS THIS ANY BETTER

Liberty, thwarted from getting to know the doctor she is beginning to fall for, sets off on a journey to her favourite era – Regency England. It’s easy – she has the secret. She makes a mistake and finds herself in 1968 in London, England. Despite feeling confused and having lost her memory, she begins to revel in the life of the Swinging Sixties. All goes well until someone from her past is determined to take his revenge. However, she is rescued from the downward spiral of her life by someone else who feels he belongs in Regency England too. Happy ever after?
201765 Does Your Life Have a Theme?

Have you ever looked back on your life and seen a theme? I doubt that most of us have. But if you have, I’d love to hear about it.

Here’s where to tell us:

https://www.goodreads.com/author_blog...

If you are a reader, I’d love to know what theme you feel authors never tackle. Or, tell us your favourite theme in books in general or in a single book.

If you are an author, please tell us how you arrived at the theme of one of the books you have written (no links please but do put the title).

201765 Thinking of you today, Dale.
201765 I woke up in the middle of the night to find the radio still on and a really happy song was playing. I hadn’t heard it for years but, even though I was half asleep, it made me smile. And the following day it still made me smile when I tracked it down on YouTube. It’s also brilliant to exercise to without wishing you were doing something else!

Then when you’ve finished jumping around, you can reward yourself with a flop on a comfortable chair with a whole trilogy of adventure, romance and mystery for $2.97 or £3.97 in the UK.

201765 No, I always use people who are in my target market whom I know and trust. Yes, they are few and far between, but it works for me. Sorry, I can't help but others may know of those sites.
201765 I wouldn't be surprised if you already do that! lol

Hide in Time by Anna Faversham

is on sale for 0.99 in US and UK and also FREE on Kindle Unlimited until 7th May. Here’s what a Goodreads reviewer had to say about it:

What a beautifully written book. I instantly fell in love with the characters and cared about what happened to them. I loved the history, the little gems of information which sent me off to research further and the concept of the story. I found it believable even though it’s a work of imagination and fiction. Hide in Time is a must read for all those looking for a well written book in which to lose oneself. Highly recommended.
201765 Oh Erica! On the US Amazon Kindle page for this book you have a banner - #1 New Release (in your genre).

Well done.
